If $BTC falls 30% because global liquidity tightened, your thesis - hard-capped digital reserve, growing institutional adoption - is intact. If $ETH value accrual rests on settlement and staking economics, one weak quarter does not refute it. But if your altcoin only thesis was it might pump, that is hope wearing conviction clothes.

The test: write down, today, three specific events that would make you sell. If the answer is nothing, I just believe, you do not have a position - the position has you.

Long-term conviction is also arbitrage. Most participants cannot hold through a 20% drawdown: funds answer to quarterly reports, traders answer to margin calls, retail answers to sleep. A genuine four-year horizon collects a patience premium that short-horizon capital cannot take. Same asset, same chart - different holding periods, different risk.

That is why long-term holders look calm in ways that seem irrational. They are not ignoring price. They are pricing their own exit differently.
