MetaMask Parent Consensys Says North Korean Hacker Infiltrated Team
MetaMask parent Consensys said its legal chief, Matt Corva, disclosed a security incident involving a North Korean hacker who had joined the team. According to PANews, the hacker, identified as Tyler Knapp, entered MetaMask as an outsourced worker through a long-term human resources vendor and bypassed the company's direct-hire background checks.Corva said the hacker worked at the company for one month and contributed to development of the wallet's fiat on- and off-ramp feature. The person was detected by the company's security monitoring after unusual IP activity and behavior.Consensys then revoked all access permissions and suspended all product launches handled by the worker. Corva said there has been no material data or fund loss so far.
