Hermès results. Antoine Fraysse-Soulier, Market Analyst at eToro

Hermès has just published significantly better-than-expected results, including a net profit increase of more than 27.9% in 2023, to €4.31 billion, compared to the expected €4.05 billion. In the fourth quarter, its sales recorded strong growth in all geographic regions, especially in Japan, and its operating margin exceeds that of its competitors, standing at 42% compared to 26% for LVMH and 24% for Kering, for example.

Hermès distinguishes itself from its rivals by better resisting deteriorating economic conditions, thanks to its timeless creations and rigorous production and stock management, which reinforces the exclusivity of the brand. The saddlery business recorded growth of 18.6% in its European activity (including French) during the last three months of 2023.

The results are so good for Hermès that the group is "rewarded" with an exceptional dividend of 10 euros per share, in addition to the 15 euros for fiscal year 2023.
