🔥RWA Star Stock Implodes! SECZ Crashes 20% After-Hours
As a partner of BlackRock’s BUIDL tokenization fund, Securitize (SECZ) has long been a benchmark company in the real-world asset tokenization space. Its first post-listing earnings report immediately doused market enthusiasm, with a drop of more than 20% after hours.
Second-quarter revenue was $14 million, down 5% year over year—far below market expectations of $20.6 million.
Loss per share came in directly at $2.37, while the market had originally only expected a loss of $0.15. Net loss was $21.7 million. Adjusted EBITDA, which was profitable last year, flipped to a loss of $5.5 million.
One particularly ironic point: the platform’s tokenized asset management scale hit a new high, trading volume surged 147%, and business momentum was through the roof—but revenue didn’t rise, while losses expanded dramatically.
This also punctures the reality of the RWA industry: institutions may be highly enthusiastic about putting assets on-chain, but it’s hard to make money once the business gets running.
No matter how nicely the story is told, the secondary market ultimately has to look at the earnings results.
Do you think the RWA tokenization story can still keep going?
