BNB Chain has just released its 2026 H2 technical roadmap. The core objective is very clear: **double the mainnet throughput again**, and raise it by 10x in the long run!
Looking back at the first half of the year, the results are still impressive:
✅ Block production interval reduced from 750ms to 450ms
✅ Memory final-state time reduced from 1125ms to 650ms
✅ Benchmark throughput increased from ~2800 TPS to 5200 TPS (about 400 MGas/s)
✅ The BSC Rust client completed full compatibility with Reth v2.0, with performance doubled directly
In the second half, there are three major tasks:
1️⃣ Continued performance improvements: BEP-675 upgrade, a dedicated channel solution, and BAL parallel execution—pushing throughput to the next level
2️⃣ Resource isolation: reduce cross-interference between different applications to improve network stability
3️⃣ Gas optimization: adjust the fee structure to lower the cost for enterprise users to access the network
Even more exciting is that the next-generation L1 architecture is already in R&D, targeting:
👉 100,000+ TPS
👉 Transaction pre-confirmation under 50ms
👉 A TxStream mechanism with no public mempool
👉 On-chain governance reserved block space via PriorityLane
👉 Native private transaction functionality
A timeline has also been released: a testnet by the end of 2026, and the official mainnet launch in early 2027. At the same time, it continues to advance research into post-quantum security, exploring a combined approach of quantum resistance + account abstraction.
BNB Chain is taking a two-pronged approach here—both performance and ecosystem—while keeping a steady and disciplined pace for technical upgrades.
