🛠️ Crypto prices may be out of the spotlight, but someone is still paying the blockchain’s “utility bills”
Brex released its Fall 2026 list of the “25 Fastest-Growing Software Vendors,” ranking them by how quickly enterprise customers increased their spending on these software products from July to September.
🔹 The top spots were mostly taken by AI infrastructure companies: Baseten came in at No. 1, followed by Modal, Greptile, and Daytona. They mainly offer tools for running models, sandboxes, and tests for AI agents.
🔹 Crypto infrastructure company Alchemy ranked No. 21.
🔹 When Alchemy CEO Nikil Viswanathan reposted the list, he said just one thing: Crypto is alive and thriving!
What makes this list interesting is that it doesn’t track crypto prices or buzz on Twitter—it tracks how much real companies are spending on services. That’s how plenty of people on X are interpreting it too: the market may be cold, but developers are still paying for node access and API calls.
My take: this is a “thermometer,” not a buy signal. Alchemy sells “picks and shovels” like RPC nodes. Companies’ willingness to keep paying suggests that on-chain applications are still being built. But ranking No. 21, among a bunch of AI companies, also shows that most capital and budgets have already flowed to AI. Don’t rush to chase “narrative coins.” What you should really watch is whether the number of active on-chain applications and developers is growing too.
What do you think—in this bear market, are builders quietly getting the work done, or has all the money already gone to AI? Share your thoughts in the comments 👇
