🇨🇳🤖 CHINESE SCIENTISTS CREATE HUMANOID ROBOT THAT COULD GIVE BIRTH TO HUMAN BABIES IN 2026

The company Kaiwa Technology presented at the World Robotics Conference in Beijing the first robot with an artificial uterus capable of simulating THE ENTIRE pregnancy: from conception to delivery. The fetus would grow in synthetic amniotic fluid and receive nutrients through a tube, mimicking the human placenta.

The prototype will be available in 2026 for less than 100,000 yuan (approximately $13,900). Founder Zhang Qifeng says that the artificial uterus technology "is already mature" and only needs to be integrated into humanoid form to allow "real interaction between person and robot during pregnancy".

🐑 Scientists have already managed to keep a premature lamb alive for 4 weeks in a "biobag" (transparent bag with amniotic fluid) in Philadelphia 2017. The lamb developed wool normally and demonstrated that the technology works. Now they want to apply it to humans.

The stated goal: to combat the declining birth rate in China and offer an alternative to young people who want children but do not want to become pregnant. It could also help people with infertility or those looking to have children outside of traditional marriage.

⚠️ Controversy is brewing: it generated more than 100 million views on Weibo. While some celebrate the "liberation from the burdens of pregnancy", others question the ethics, the mother-child bond, and where the eggs and sperm would come from. Chinese law currently prohibits developing human fetuses in artificial wombs for more than 2 weeks.
