🇻🇪⚡ TWO VENEZUELAN F-16s FLY OVER U.S. DESTROYER IN "SHOW OF FORCE"
✈️ Two armed F-16 fighter jets from Venezuela flew over the USS Jason Dunham on Thursday, multiple Pentagon officials confirmed to CBS News. The Arleigh Burke-class guided missile destroyer is part of a flotilla deployed in Caribbean waters "to combat drug trafficking".
🚢 The United States currently has 3 destroyers (USS Gravely, Jason Dunham, and Sampson), 2 amphibious ships with 4,000 Marines, a Los Angeles-class nuclear submarine, and P-8 Poseidon aircraft patrolling off the coast of Venezuela. This is the largest U.S. naval deployment in the region in years.
Trump doubled the reward for Maduro to $50 million, accusing him of leading the "Cartel de los Soles". The administration designated Venezuelan organizations as "foreign terrorists". Maduro responded by calling the ships a "criminal and bloody threat" and deployed his own drones and boats.
🎯 On September 2nd, U.S. forces attacked a speedboat coming from Venezuela, allegedly from the Tren de Aragua. Trump posted the video of the attack on Truth Social: "Let this be a warning to anyone trying to bring drugs into the United States".
⚠️ Venezuela mobilized 4.5 million Bolivarian militiamen and conducted military exercises. The flyover of the F-16s marks a dangerous escalation: it is the first time in years that Venezuelan jets have directly challenged the U.S. Navy in international waters.
