US Stocks | Midday Fast Report | July 24
US stocks midday update, 22:38 Beijing time / 10:38 ET. Tech and semiconductors are under pressure while energy and defensive groups lead.
From the open: S&P 500 about 7408, +0.02%; SPY 738.25, -0.04%. Dow about 51816, +0.05%. Nasdaq about 24974, -0.51%; QQQ 686.11, -0.60%. Snapshot only; prices move.
Moves: SOXX -2.51%; TSLA -2.56%; COIN -3.84%; MSTR -2.88%; IBIT -0.89%. AAPL +1.39%; XLE +1.53%; XLF +0.23%; XLK -0.94%.
Flow: money is leaving growth, chips and high beta, rotating toward energy, financials and select large caps. VIX is near 18.87 and slightly higher.
Crypto: BTC 63868, down 1.82% over 24h, about -0.80% from the US open, session low near 63740. ETH 1857, down 2.35% over 24h, about -0.53% from the US open, low near 1848. Both track lower risk assets; ETH is weaker.
Headline read: reports point to weak reactions to Alphabet and Tesla earnings, concern over AI capex and cash flow, plus oil near $100 and renewed inflation/stagflation pressure. This looks like sector repricing, not index panic.
Close and overnight view: the base case is S&P and Dow range-bound, with Nasdaq relatively weak unless SOXX recovers from its open. If oil and yields rise, BTC, COIN and MSTR could remain pressured after the close. Watch BTC 63740 and ETH 1848. Reduce leverage; this is not financial advice.
