ARGENTINA UNDER ATTACK AROUND THE WORLD
THE CAMPAIGN CONTINUES AND IS NO LONGER LIMITED TO FOOTBALL
Days passed and I notice more and more clearly a pattern: media outlets, journalists, influencers, and celebrities from different countries repeat attacks against Argentina, Messi, and the National Team. They present us as cheats, violent, racist, or favored, while many of those who claim to denounce hate have spent years building an audience out of contempt for Argentines.
What’s most serious is that reports and videos are already circulating showing Argentine citizens insulted or assaulted with violence simply for wearing the National Team jersey. When media discourse turns an entire country into an enemy, the consequences stop being virtual.
I can’t claim that there is an office coordinating each incident. But I do see too many actors pushing the same narrative, while algorithms multiply the conflict.
In #algopaso we are no longer talking only about a final. We’re talking about identity, sovereignty, and a country that bothers because it keeps producing talent, culture, and champions.

SOMETHING HAPPENED: IT’S NO LONGER A PROBLEM, IT’S ENVY

Days passed and I don’t write anymore out of anger. Now I look at everything with more distance and I notice something deeper: a part of the world doesn’t just criticize our National Team; it seems bothered by everything that Argentina represents.
It’s bothered by our meat, our culture, the beauty of our women, our passion and—above all—our football. It bothers them that an economically battered country continues to produce champions, global idols, and an identity that doesn’t need to ask permission.
For years, some European programs built their audience by attacking Messi. Then came the World Cup, the Malvinas poster, and an international reaction that was too intense to be treated as mere sport. Even people completely unrelated to football felt the need to make fun of Argentina.
I don’t see it as a perfect conspiracy anymore. I see it as accumulated envy toward a country that, even in its worst moments, keeps what money can’t buy: talent, pride, passion, and belonging.
It wasn’t just a final. We touched something. Something made them uncomfortable.
Something happened.

THAT'S IT. AND THEY DON’T EVEN SAY IT ANYMORE—ONLY THE FANS

Today I even see serious journalists rethinking what really happened after that final. Rumor has it that Messi stopped following Infantino; yes, Messi, the GOAT. Then the full video surfaced of a “pep talk” so cold and strange that not even a six-year-old would buy it as an explanation for what we then saw on the pitch. The video itself fed new theories on social media.

I’m not saying there’s a conspiracy. I’m saying something more basic: there were too many silences, gestures, refereeing decisions, and later reactions that don’t fit. Lisandro Martínez’s line—“the fall of the great is the happiness of the mediocre”—also doesn’t seem accidental.

Maybe we’ll never know the whole truth. But at this point, denying that something happened takes more faith than starting to ask questions.
