🇦🇷🔥 FALKLANDS: NOW THEY’RE GOING AFTER US$26,465 MILLION
While the United Kingdom conducts military exercises on the Islands, another, far more uncomfortable front has opened: money.
The Agustina Lerena Foundation has filed a class-action lawsuit in the Federal Court of Río Grande seeking up to US$26,465 million from companies linked to fishing operations in the Falkland Islands.
The claim alleges that around 4.1 million tonnes of fishery resources were extracted between 1989 and 2025 without Argentina’s authorization.
And they’re not targeting ships alone.
The lawsuit also reaches fishing companies, companies linked to the Islands, banks, insurers, shipyards, and other players who are alleged to have taken part in the business.
First, oil.
Then, military exercises.
Now, fishing worth US$26,465 million.
🇬🇧 London controls the Islands.
🇦🇷 Argentina is starting to target the business around them.
The uncomfortable question is this:
Should we go directly after the companies making money from exploiting the resources of the Falkland Islands, even if it sparks an international economic conflict?

Total repaid: $14,496.24
Difference: +44.96%
At that point, anyone might think:
“So the interest rate is 45%.”
No.
The loan lists a TNA of 60%, a TEA close to 80%, and a CFTEA of 102.36%.
A contradiction?
Not at all.
The CFTEA doesn’t mean you’ll pay back 102% more money. It’s an equivalent annual rate that includes interest, taxes, commissions, and other costs, while taking into account that you’re also paying down the debt as you make your installments.
And that’s exactly why it matters.
Galperin questioned the BCRA’s requirement to display that figure prominently because, according to his argument, it could give an exaggerated impression of the actual cost of the loan.
But another, much more uncomfortable question comes up:
Which number should an ordinary person look at before taking on debt?
Because TNA, TEA, and CFT don’t mean the same thing… and a huge part of the population doesn’t know how to tell them apart.
That confusion benefits any company that lends money.
So perhaps the problem isn’t that the CFT is displayed too prominently.
Perhaps the problem is that for years nobody explained what it means.
Financial transparency… or a number that confuses more than it informs?
