BMT nearly doubled when the KRW pair opened, then I chased in at 0.0494 and lost 22%.
I’m on the short side—not because I’m bearish on the BMT project, but because I’m bearish at this price.
First, here’s what happened.
Yesterday morning, when the KRW pair went live on Upbit, BMT climbed from around 57.7 to 98.1—up nearly 70% in a single day.
The futures market was even crazier. Around the opening, two hourly candles sent it straight from 0.022 to 0.0494, with nearly 2 billion tokens traded between them.
I thought, this isn’t just a listing—Koreans are rushing in with their won.
But after that rush, the story gets less pretty.
The current price is 0.0384. It still shows +74% over 24 hours, but anyone who chased in at 0.0494 is now down 22%.
What really stings is the volume: over 1.1 billion tokens in the opening candle, but barely more than 100 million in the candle at 3 a.m. today—a 90% drop.
In plain terms, the first wave of KRW buying was over, nobody came in to follow it up, and the price slid all the way down to a low of 0.0324 last night.
The bulls still have a couple of things going for them.
The direct KRW on-ramp is a new source of money. Before, BMT was only paired with BTC and USDT on Upbit; now Korean retail investors can buy it directly with won.
And the funding rate is still -0.0677%, so shorts are paying longs every day. If they want to push the price down, they’re bleeding money first.
Both of those points are real, so I’m not calling for a short—I just can’t bring myself to chase at this price.
My take in one sentence: the listing news was fully priced in yesterday morning, and buying now means catching the bag for people who chased the pump.
If it gets back above 0.0494 and holds, I’ll admit I was wrong. That would mean a second wave of KRW buying has arrived, and then I’d look at 0.055.
If it falls below 0.0353, that means even the low from early this morning couldn’t hold. Next stop: 0.0324, and if that breaks, back to the 0.022 starting point.
I haven’t made a move. I’m not comfortable chasing or buying the dip—I'll wait for it to pick a direction.
What do you think: is a second wave of KRW buying still coming, with BMT reclaiming 0.0494 and pushing higher, or was this just a one-day listing pump, with a drop below 0.0353 taking it back to 0.0324?
I’m betting on the latter. What about you?
