📣 Can you earn a salary just by shilling coins? Pump.fun’s “Callout Rewards” leaderboard is causing a stir
A table has been making the rounds on X over the past couple of days: top Pump.fun callers are earning tens of thousands of dollars in Callout Rewards, despite holding their positions for an unbelievably short time.
First, how it works: on Pump App, the trading volume generated by the coins you call is credited to you, and the platform pays rewards daily based on that volume. The platform recently adjusted the rules, saying it would put more weight on the results for people who follow the calls.
A few figures being passed around:
🔹 One post estimated that top callers received between $100,000 and $330,000 in rewards, with a median holding time of less than 1 minute
🔹 Another table showed POORGOAT_ at around $369,000, with a median holding time of about 1 day; Dior and chairman each earned over $400,000, with median holding times of just 15 to 21 minutes
🔹 The traders named in the table pushed back, arguing that it didn’t account for coins they hadn’t sold yet or distinguish cases where bots sniped them, and that the data was misleading
We can keep arguing over whether the numbers are accurate, but one point holds true. X trader Greeny put it bluntly: some callers don’t need to make money from trading at all. As long as you follow their calls and buy, they collect rewards based on the trading volume—whether they themselves lose money or end up holding a bag makes no difference.
Others complained that a single narrative generated $15 million in trading volume in one day, while not a single coin had a market cap above $1 million—and the money ultimately ended up as rewards for the callers.
So before following a call, ask yourself three things:
1️⃣ Are they making money from the coin going up, or from the trading volume your purchase generates?
2️⃣ Do you know when they’re going to sell?
3️⃣ If they’re out in 1 minute, how long are you planning to hold?
Incentives shape behavior. When rewards are based on trading volume, callers are motivated to get you to buy more and buy faster—and that has no necessary connection to whether you make money.
Would you follow someone just because they make lots of calls and earn big rewards, or would that make you more wary? Let’s discuss in the comments 👇
