India’s Nifty 50 is now on Hyperliquid: 20x leverage, 24/7. The replies are full of “Indian retail traders are about to get rekt,” but I think the first ones to get harvested will be the foreigners jumping on the bandwagon.
A few details to chew on:
trade.xyz offers synthetic perpetuals, not the actual index. On launch day, onchainmonk even said liquidity was very low.
Someone asked under the official post: Will it trade around the clock, or follow Indian stock market hours? I looked around and couldn’t find a straight answer. Going 20x without clearing that up is like driving blindfolded. After the Indian market closes, or over the weekend, who determines the price? When the order book is thin, a few large orders can print a giant wick.
Someone else posted a screenshot complaining that the Nifty is at 22,712 rupees, while the platform shows the same number but labels it in dollars. If even the units can confuse people, how do you expect beginners to understand funding rates?
The funniest part is the shilling. An account with 36,000 followers posts “India’s Nifty enters the 24/7 era,” then immediately follows up with “Join our free VIP group.” Someone in the replies goes straight to “NIFTY breaks 18.2k,” while the news says it closed at 22,753 on October 26. The numbers don’t even line up—what exactly broke out?
I’m not against new markets. HIP-3 bringing assets from around the world onchain is a real trend. But on launch day, with a thin order book, unclear rules, and shillers already on the scene, anyone rushing in is basically paying tuition to the market makers. Wait for liquidity to build first. There’s no shame in that.
