๐ฒ Confession: yesterday I lost $10 on Binance Predict betting that England would beat Norway. It was the cheapest โtuitionโ Iโve ever paidโbecause I finally understood how prediction markets really work. Iโll save you the cost:
1๏ธโฃ Buy shares in an outcome (โEngland wins: YESโ). If it happens, they pay out in full. If it doesnโt, theyโre worth ZERO. No stop-loss, no panic selling, no โalmostโโitโs binary. My -100% wasnโt extreme bad luckโitโs the product design.
2๏ธโฃ The share price IS the probability according to the crowd. Paying 0.70 for a โyesโ means the market gives it 70%. You only make money consistently if you know something the market doesnโt. I knew nothingโI only had football faith. That has a name: gambling.
3๏ธโฃ The only risk control that exists here is size: what you put in is what you can lose, always. Compare that with a well-structured futures trade, where the stop loss defines your loss. These are different sports.
Whatโs interesting: prediction markets are one of the serious narratives of 2026โtheyโre used as a thermometer for elections, Fed decisions, and even the price of $BTC. The product is fascinating. My bet, not.
My rule from today: predictions = entertainment budget, like movies. Not a single dollar from trading capital.
Have you tried them? Wins or tuition payments like mine? ๐
