Midnight mainnet permissions are now open: you don’t need to go through the Preprod security review first—you can deploy smart contracts directly; and contracts can even deploy on behalf of users. About half a year since the March federated-style mainnet launch, the approach has shifted from “stabilize first” to “let developers try it themselves.”

The ecosystem pieces are moving too: starting 10/1, Blockfrost becomes the mainnet public RPC/index entry point; Google Cloud has had the testnet faucet issues resolved; and the Gero wallet has integrated the blocked-balance screen. The CTO says v8 will be when the real privacy contracts and custom privacy tokens go live, and v9 will be when composability is discussed again—this wave is the door opening, not the full “privacy main course” all at once.
