Ethereum researchers have proposed to completely stop paying validator rewards if half (50%) of all ETH is staked.

The proposal, EIP-8363, would gradually reduce the newly issued ETH rewards, until they reach zero (0) if staking today at around 34% reaches 50% of the total ETH.

Opponents of this proposal warn that this change could cause solo stakers to leave staking, giving large organizations and big validator operators more influence over control.
