D’CENT App Wallet Hack: 11.7M XRP Drained

6,678 wallets. 11.7M XRP. One major security warning.

Between September 15–20, attackers drained approximately 11.75 million XRP, worth around $20M, from 6,678 D’CENT App Wallets across six waves. On-chain analysis indicates the attacker already controlled the signing keys. (xrpl.to)

Around 5.6M XRP was moved through THORChain to Ethereum, while additional funds passed through several exchanges and cross-chain services. About 1.3M XRP was still linked to attacker-controlled wallets as of September 21. (xrpl.to)

D’CENT has advised affected users to move their assets to a newly created secure wallet with a fresh recovery phrase. Hardware wallets are generally unaffected, but users should take action if the same recovery phrase was ever used in the affected App Wallet. (DCENT Shop)

Key lesson: A hardware wallet is not automatically safe if its recovery phrase has been exposed or reused in a compromised software wallet.

Always verify security announcements through official channels and never share your recovery phrase with anyone.
