OpenAI just doubled its bioweapon jailbreak bounty to $50,000. The most powerful AI company on earth is paying researchers to try to break its own biological safety systems.
Read that carefully.
Not a cybersecurity bounty. Not a prompt injection challenge.
A biological safety jailbreak bounty.
OpenAI is paying people $50,000 to find ways to get its AI to help create bioweapons. Because if researchers can find those paths, bad actors can too. And OpenAI would rather know about the vulnerabilities before someone exploits them for real.
That logic is sound. The bounty program is responsible security practice.
But the fact that this bounty exists at all tells you something important about where AI capability actually is right now.
