NVIDIA concentrated on Tuesday, the 21st, U.S. Eastern time, to disclose the latest progress of its next-generation Vera Rubin platform: Vera Rubin NVL72 has entered the ramp-up stage of mass production. NVIDIA said the platform’s supply chain covers more than 350 factories and 30 countries worldwide, with more than 300 partners already participating.

At the same time, NVIDIA further released performance data for Vera CPU and the Vera Rubin platform on AI agent workloads, attempting to show that as AI shifts from “answering questions” to autonomous planning, calling tools, and executing tasks, the CPU is becoming the new battleground for AI infrastructure.

The complete specifications, benchmark results, and architecture information of NVIDIA’s data center CPU product Vera are key data potentially customers need to comprehensively evaluate the chip. The company said the Vera chip was delivered to customers such as OpenAI, Anthropic, and SpaceX in June.

Vera’s launch is the latest step in NVIDIA’s vertically integrated strategy. The company intends to sell customers complete computing rack systems that include its self-developed chips, rather than simply selling a single chip. Wolfe Research estimates the average price per Vera chip is about $5,000, with this year’s expected shipment volume reaching around 1.3 million units. For AMD and Intel, NVIDIA’s move directly threatens both companies’ core interests in the server CPU market.

This is not the first time NVIDIA announced that Vera CPU is entering mass production. At the end of May this year, NVIDIA said Vera had entered full production and claimed the chip can achieve 1.8 times the completion speed of traditional x86 CPUs for certain tasks. In mid-May, NVIDIA also delivered the first batch of Vera CPU systems to customers such as Anthropic, OpenAI, and SpaceXAI. This announcement’s focus further shifts to the mass production ramp-up of the entire Vera Rubin platform, customer deployments, and performance in real production environments.
