On November 13, 2025, the Soviet District Court of Ryazan issued a verdict against two men: a resident of Kazan (29 years old) and a resident of the Leningrad region (32 years old) for the assault on a local crypto blogger and the theft of bitcoins worth 13.2 million rubles. The crime occurred in July 2024 in the stairwell of the victim's building.
The criminals met in the summer of 2024 during an online poker game. One of them, a resident of Kazan, talked about a blogger from Ryazan who runs a Telegram channel on crypto investments with 10,000 subscribers and suggested that he has significant savings in $BTC . They planned the robbery: they arrived in Ryazan, forced the victim to provide the data from the crypto wallet right on the stairs, and transferred 0.2 BTC to themselves (at a rate of ~65,000 USD). During the transfer, a neighbor came out onto the landing, which allowed the blogger to escape.
The police arrested the robbers two months later in Kazan. The court found them guilty of robbery (Article 162 of the Criminal Code of the Russian Federation): the Kazan resident received 8 years in a strict regime colony, the Leningrad resident received 7 years. 0.15 BTC was confiscated, the rest returned to the victim. The blogger was not physically harmed, but the case highlighted the risks of publicity in crypto. Experts advise: use hardware wallets and do not disclose assets. This incident is another signal of danger for influencers.
