If you opened MetaMask today and did not find TRON there, congratulations, you are still living in the past. But don’t worry, the future is already knocking on the door, and, as usual, it comes with press releases, promises of 'global accessibility', and... Justin Sun, who is once again lurking nearby.
TRON DAO has announced a partnership with MetaMask. The wallet that was once home to Ethereum fans has now become something like a Swiss army knife for all blockchains. And now, another 'feature' has been added to this knife - TRON.
What does this mean? Well, for starters, no more need to cobble together workarounds with TronLink, download third-party extensions, and pretend that 'everything works perfectly'. No, now MetaMask will officially become a home for TRON as well. You will be able to manage TRX, handle stablecoins, and throw cross-chain parties right from your browser.
But, the main question: why now?
TRON is not yesterday's project. It is a blockchain that has long established itself in Asia, South America, and Africa. Its network handles billions of dollars in stablecoins, especially USDT, and many even call TRON 'the unofficial banking system of the developing world'. And now MetaMask, which for a long time pretended that TRON 'did not exist', suddenly opens its doors.
Sounds like a marriage of convenience.
MetaMask gains access to a huge audience of users who are accustomed to living on TRON. TRON gains legitimacy and another channel for expansion. And users... well, users will get the 'Add TRON Network' button.
And here's the most interesting part: both sides have stated that they will 'jointly promote decentralization worldwide'. Translating from PR language: get ready for a big presentation tour, a couple of loud words about freedom and independence, and perhaps even an NFT collection 'MetaTRON'.
In general, the era of 'TRON on the sidelines' is ending. Now it is at the center, in the same wallet where you already have ETH, BNB, and of course, endless 'shakeys'.
The more giants like MetaMask and TRON 'make blockchain accessible to everyone', the more it all starts to resemble the old good banking system. Only with memes, tokens, and promises that 'this time it will be different'.
