RUSSIA 🇷🇺: PUTIN EXPLAINS WHY RUSSIA NO LONGER TRUSTS THE WEST.
Vladimir Putin recently shared his thoughts on the relations between Russia and Western countries. He explained that in the 2000s, many in Russia, including himself, believed that the tensions with the West mainly stemmed from ideological differences, much like during the time of the Soviet Union. They thought that once communism disappeared, things would improve.
However, over time, Putin realized that even after the end of the USSR, Western countries continued to ignore Russia's interests. According to him, their true aim was to gain geopolitical advantages, not to work together as equal partners.
When he became President, he tried to talk about it with Western leaders: "I showed them evidence that they said one thing and did another. They pretended to agree, but nothing changed. On the contrary, it got worse."
Ultimately, Putin understood that the problem was not only ideology but primarily the West's desire to dominate and weaken Russia.
And what do you think?
- Has the West really sought to marginalize Russia, or is it a matter of misunderstandings on both sides?
- Is Russia right to be wary, or could it have done more to improve relations?
