šŗšøšŖšŗš¬š§ BREXIT: A VICTORY FOR THE UNITED KINGDOM AGAINST THE EU?
The United Kingdom seems to have played its cards right in the recent trade negotiations with the United States. While the European Union has accepted a 15% tax on its exports to the USA, the United Kingdom has secured a more favorable rate of 10%. A situation that reignites the debate about the benefits of Brexit.
The agreement reached between the EU and the United States is considered disadvantageous by several European countries. Ursula von der Leyen acknowledges that this is not a success, but a compromise to avoid a trade war. In contrast, Dominic Cummings, a figure of Brexit, expressed joy that the United Kingdom has "escaped this disaster."
Keir Starmer, the British Prime Minister, has managed to strengthen relations with Washington, particularly through royal diplomacy. The result: better trade relations despite the weaker economic weight of the United Kingdom.
But not everything is so rosy. Economists remind us that Brexit has been costly for the British economy. Growth remains below what the country would have experienced had it stayed in the EU.
The Irish situation also remains tense: Northern Ireland, linked to the United Kingdom, benefits from the reduced rate of 10%, unlike the Republic of Ireland, still a member of the EU, which will pay 15%. An imbalance that could reignite post-Brexit tensions.
Politically, this situation is being exploited by Nigel Farage and populist parties in Europe to criticize the Union. An opportunity for them to regain ground. #TrumpTariffs $SOL
#CHINE šØš³ - #RUSSIE š·šŗ : MILITARY MANEUVERS TO CHALLENGE THE WORLD ORDER?
Since Sunday, China and Russia have been conducting joint military exercises in the Sea of Japan, dubbed "Joint Sea-2025." The objective: to strengthen their cooperation in the face of American influence. These maneuvers include naval, ground, and air operations near Vladivostok, a strategic port close to Japan.
Officially, these exercises are not aimed at anyone. But in reality, they send a clear message: Beijing and Moscow are tightening their ties in response to the pressure from the United States and its allies (NATO, AUKUS, Quad). China is facing tensions surrounding Taiwan, while Russia is still enduring sanctions related to the war in Ukraine.
During these exercises, new technologies such as hypersonic missiles or drones are likely to be tested. The goal: to learn to work together on the ground and to showcase their joint military power.
These activities are concerning to the United States, Japan, South Korea, and Australia, who see them as a provocation. There are fears of rising tensions in Asia, particularly around Taiwan.
So, towards a China-Russia military alliance? Itās not official yet, but the two countries are increasingly cooperating: cybersecurity, arms sales, Arctic routes, etc.
š And what do you think? Is this alliance a necessary counterbalance to the West or the beginning of a new Cold War? And should African countries remain neutral or take a stand?

#USA šŗšø - #INDE š®š³ : TRUMP INCREASES TAXES ON INDIAN PRODUCTS DUE TO PURCHASING RUSSIAN OIL.
Donald Trump, the American President, has decided to make products from India more expensive. Why? Because India buys a lot of oil from Russia, and according to Trump, this helps Russia finance the war in Ukraine. He even accuses India of reselling some of this oil to make money, which would allow Russia to bypass economic sanctions. Trump says that the Indians "do not care about the number of people dying in Ukraine" because of this war.
Starting Thursday, the United States will increase taxes on several products coming from different countries, including India. For now, this tax is 25%, but Trump threatens to raise it even more if India continues to purchase Russian oil. India, on its part, defends itself by saying it needs this oil to ensure its energy supply and that it remains neutral in this conflict.
In response, Indian Prime Minister Narendra Modi has urged his people to support products made in India, called "swadeshi." He wants Indians to buy locally to help farmers, small businesses, and create jobs. Itās a way to make India stronger and less dependent on other countries, especially with the current economic tensions.
And what do you think?
Do you think countries like India have the right to buy Russian oil for their needs, even if it may indirectly help Russia? Or do the United States have the right to punish them with taxes to force them to change?

#USA šŗšø - #INDE š®š³ : THE INDIAN PRIME MINISTER ASKS INDIANS TO BUY INDIAN IN THE FACE OF AMERICAN TAXES.
The Indian Prime Minister, Narendra Modi, has made an important appeal to the citizens of his country. He is asking them to prioritize products made in India, known as "swadeshi", to help the national economy. This decision comes after the United States, under Donald Trump, imposed a 25% tax on Indian products exported there.
In a speech in Varanasi, a very important city in India, Modi explained that this is the time to support farmers, local small businesses, and create jobs for the youth. With economic problems around the world, he believes that India must become stronger by relying on itself.
This idea is part of his "Vocal for Local" campaign, which encourages people to buy what is made in their own country. The goal is to make India more economically independent, so it does not have to depend too much on other countries.
AND YOU, WHAT DO YOU THINK OF THIS IDEA?
- Is it a good thing to prioritize products from oneās own country, even if they are sometimes a bit more expensive?
- Can we really become self-sufficient, or do we always need to trade with abroad?
- If your government launched such a campaign, would you support it?

#RUSSIE š·šŗ : RUSSIA LAUNCHES A PERSONALIZED CANCER VACCINE: HUMAN TRIALS BEGINNING SEPTEMBER 2025.
Russia has just made an announcement that could change the lives of millions of people. Starting September 2025, clinical trials will begin to test a new cancer vaccine, specially designed for each patient. This vaccine has been developed by the Gamaleya Center (the one that created the Sputnik vaccine against Covid), in collaboration with two major cancer research institutes.
For now, the vaccine primarily targets two very serious types of cancer: melanoma (a skin cancer) and small cell lung cancer. However, scientists are already planning to adapt it for other cancers, such as those of the pancreas, kidneys, or breast.
Initial laboratory tests have yielded impressive results: in some animals, tumors decreased by 75 to 80%, and metastases (that is, the parts of the cancer that spread in the body) even disappeared. The great strength of this vaccine is that it is personalized. Thanks to artificial intelligence (AI), doctors can prepare a dose tailored to each patient in just one hour!
In Russia, this treatment will be free for patients. Each dose costs about 300,000 rubles, or nearly 2,900 dollars to produce, but the state will cover all costs.
So, a cancer vaccine is a real revolution. But some people might wonder:
- Will this vaccine ever be accessible in other countries?
- Should we trust treatments developed so quickly, even if the results seem promising?
- And if this vaccine works, will it mean the end of chemotherapy, which is very burdensome for patients?
And what do you think?

š²š¬ MADAGASCAR FACING AMERICAN TAXES: WHAT CHALLENGES AND OPTIONS?
Starting from August 7, 2025, Malagasy products exported to the United States will be taxed at 15%, up from 10% previously. This increase follows Madagascar's exit from the AGOA program, reserved for countries meeting certain standards (democracy, good governance, social rights). Only a few states like Kenya or Senegal still benefit from it.
The textile sector, which employs over 200,000 people, is the most affected. Malagasy clothing will now be more expensive than that from Kenya, threatening jobs and factory activity. However, vanilla ā of which Madagascar is the global leader ā remains exempt from tax, as it is essential to American industries.
But be careful: relying solely on vanilla would be risky. In the event of a climate crisis or a drop in prices, the economy would suffer significantly.
Could China be an alternative? Already very present (80% of textile factories), it could increase its purchases or redirect exports to other markets. But relying too much on it also carries risks.
What to do?
Revive relations with the United States by improving governance to regain AGOA status.
Modernize the textile sector to move upmarket.
Diversify outlets towards Europe, Africa, or India.
Avoid dependence on a single partner, whether Western or Asian.
Conclusion: Madagascar must find a balance between its partners, defend its interests, and strengthen its economic sovereignty.

#USA šŗšø - #CHINE šØš³ - #AFRIQUE š : WHEN WASHINGTON HITS HARD, BEIJING SNEAKS IN
On July 31, 2025, the United States led by Donald Trump imposed heavy tariffs on African products. Twenty countries are affected, including South Africa, Algeria, Tunisia, and Libya, which will have to pay up to 30% in additional taxes to export to the USA.
In response to this decision, China has sensed a golden opportunity: it has eliminated almost all its customs duties on African products. For Julius Malema (EFF, South Africa), these American taxes are "irrational" and keep Africa in dependence. He calls on African countries to turn to new partners.
And indeed, China is taking action:
In Angola, Sinohydro is investing $100 million to create a giant grain farm.
CITIC, another Chinese company, will invest $250 million to cultivate soybeans and corn on 100,000 hectares.
Objective: reduce China's dependence on the United States⦠by relying on African lands.
š So, what to do? Should we choose China, which invests and buys our products? Or stay close to the United States despite the taxes? And if tomorrow, China also decided to impose strict conditions, what would Africa do?
