Rio Justice confirms the bankruptcy of GAS Consultoria, company of the 'Pharaoh of Bitcoins'
Judge Arthur Eduardo Magalhães Ferreira, of the 5th Business Court of Rio, confirmed this Friday (16) the anticipation of the effects of the bankruptcy of GAS Consultoria e Tecnologia and decreed the company's failure.
The company is controlled by Glaidson Acácio dos Santos, accused of operating an illegal cryptocurrency and financial pyramid scheme and known as the 'Pharaoh of Bitcoins'.
According to the latest survey conducted by the judicial administration, the total amount of the company's debt exceeds R$ 3.8 billion, with a preliminary list of 62,604 creditors who presented documentation proving their credit.
Initially, the judicial administration received 127,785 registrations, but a considerable number of investors did not present the necessary documents.
The largest number of creditors (74%), according to the study, made investments in the range of up to R$ 50 thousand, representing, however, only 26% of the total amount of the bankrupt estate's debt.
On the other hand, only 5% of creditors have credits above R$ 200 thousand, but they represent a percentage of 39% of the total amount of the debt. According to investigations, GAS promised clients a monthly return of 10% on the invested amount.
The company had filed for judicial recovery in May 2022. However, on February 16, 2023, the 5th Business Court of Rio decided to anticipate the effects of the bankruptcy.
As a result, the company was removed from its activities, and at that time, the early maturity of debts and the unavailability of all personal assets of the partners were decreed to ensure payment to creditors.
