Daughter of CEO of cryptocurrency platform escapes attempted kidnapping in Paris

The daughter and the grandson of the CEO of a cryptocurrency company escaped an attempted kidnapping in Paris on Tuesday (13) before managing to scare off the attackers.

Shortly after 8 a.m. local time (1 p.m. in Brasília), 4 masked individuals attempted to attack a couple and their child on Pache Street, according to information obtained by AFP from a police source. Contradictory information indicated that one of the victims might be Brazilian, but the Brazilian embassy in Paris did not confirm this.

According to the initial elements of the investigation, the woman and the boy are descendants of the CEO and co-founder of Paymium, a French cryptocurrency exchange platform founded in 2011, which presents itself as the European pioneer in bitcoin trading.

A video, authenticated by a source close to the case, shows a man and a woman walking with a child on a street in the 11th district of Paris. According to a police source, several individuals then disembarked from a van, apparently falsely identified with the name of the French company Chronopost.
