This bill was initiated by California Democratic Congressman Sam Liccardo on February 27, with a dozen Democratic co-sponsors. Its main content is to prohibit the President, members of Congress, and other senior officials, as well as their spouses and children, from issuing or sponsoring securities, commodities, and meme coins and other cryptocurrencies. Violators will face criminal and civil penalties. In addition, the bill also requires Trump to hand over all profits he obtained from selling meme coins.
