I. Introduction You read that right, it's not a clickbait title, it's a real event. Successful recovery on September 4, 2024. I originally didn't want to talk about this matter so publicly. A few friends guessed it was me who did the recovery, but I didn't admit it. However, now I feel there's nothing wrong with it; it's something worth celebrating and commemorating, so I wrote this article to commemorate it.
The client is a foreigner who purchased a Trezor hardware wallet in 2016, established a private account, set a high-level password, and stored 1350 BTC in it. In 2019, the client forgot the password and started looking for someone to recover it. Someone had helped him input the password through the Trezor development kit interface using electronic keys, but the recovery speed was extremely slow. After running for half a year, he ultimately gave up.
You can now update the SAFE4 program to make the SAFE4 network run more smoothly!
SAFE4 Node Program Version: v2.0.6
Update Log: 1. Fixed a large number of Upload transaction issues; 2. Updated block GasLimit, initial default 1 billion; 3. Optimized node status monitoring and update functions; 4. Optimized super node network connections;
SAFE4 Desktop Program Version: v2.0.3
Update Log:
1. Double gasLimit for sending updated address transactions to ensure transaction success; 2. Update node information via node ID instead of address for greater accuracy and reliability; 3. In automatic sync mode, if the SAFE4 Node program has an update, it will automatically install the latest node program.
Update Method: 1. Download the latest version of SAFE4 Desktop from the official website, download button: Windows10(X64); 2. Close the old version of SAFE4 Desktop, run the downloaded SAFE4 Desktop new version installer; 3. Use the automatic sync function of super nodes and main nodes, input IP, username, and password to upgrade the SAFE4 Node program on VPS.
SAFE4 Network increased the maximum gas limit of blocks yesterday, meaning that the transaction volume included in each block has increased by 3-4 times. Additionally, the programs of the 10 official nodes have been upgraded, significantly reducing the upload pressure on the status of the main nodes. After a night of processing, pending status transactions have already been packaged, and we are back to normal status, so everyone can use it with confidence. The number of SAFE4 super nodes has reached 51, and super nodes below 49 will not be able to produce blocks and will have no earnings. Therefore, everyone should vote more to ensure their super nodes do not fall behind.
The number of main node migrations has reached 4521, with 830 online. The status of the main nodes that migrated over is abnormal; it is necessary to purchase a VPS, use the synchronization function, provide IP, account, and password, automatically log in to the VPS, install the SAFE4 node program, and after waiting for a while, it will become normally online.
Today, the SAFE4 Desktop version and the SAFE4 Node program will be upgraded. Users only need to download and install the SAFE4 Desktop version, and then use the synchronization function of the super node or main node to upgrade the SAFE4 Node program. Subsequent upgrades will be this convenient, with no need for manual operations on the VPS.
The number of supernodes and main nodes in the SAFE4 network is growing rapidly. Each supernode uploads the online information of the main node, resulting in a high number of upload transactions, which consumes a lot of gas limit. The migration, establishment, and renaming of each supernode and main node also consume a significant amount of gas limit.
Each block has a maximum gas limit of 300 million, which can be seen on the block explorer. Recent blocks have already reached the full gas limit of 300 million. As a result, many transactions cannot be packaged, leading to congestion in the SAFE4 network. The number of transactions in a pending state has exceeded 5,000.
We are preparing to upgrade to a new version: increasing the block gas limit, reducing the time interval for supernodes to upload main node information, etc. The release will happen in the next 1-2 days, so please refrain from any operations and wait for the new version.
The new SAFE4 network initially went online, leading to an explosion in transaction numbers. It will take some time to adjust and stabilize. Thank you for your patience and understanding.
1. If SAFE is on the BSC, ETH, or MATIC chains, there is no need to migrate; if it is on the SAFE3 blockchain, migration is needed. For those using the SAFE3 mobile wallet, please wait for a while; after that, the new version of SafeWallet will support the import and migration of mnemonic phrases from the SAFE3 mobile wallet, allowing for smooth migration.
2. Before migration, first claim the transaction fees for free; both SafeWallet and SAFE4 PC Desktop have a place to claim 0.0001 SAFE for free, which is sufficient for transaction fees. After claiming, wait 1 minute for confirmation and then you can migrate. However, if you have more than 100 addresses, the transaction fee for migration is likely insufficient, so you need to transfer a bit more SAFE in; 1 SAFE is sufficient to handle all migrations.
Super nodes with the official supernode label, these are the official super nodes, solely for guiding the normal operation of the SAFE4 network.
In the future, the SAFE4 network will operate normally, and the official team will only retain 2 super nodes for testing and monitoring the SAFE4 network.
Therefore, please do not vote for these super nodes to avoid affecting everyone's voting rewards later.
Some users have complained that the amount of SAFE has decreased after the migration. There was a previous announcement, and we will explain again as follows:
1. LOCKED records with amounts less than 0.03 SAFE and free SAFE less than 0.03 will not be migrated.
This is a compromise solution to ensure the minimum possible data volume and to ignore the least possible SAFE.
Total ignored available amount: 113.93 Number of addresses: 420,424 (this part can be compensated) Total ignored locked amount: 17,016 Number of addresses: 12,827 (this part can be compensated)
2. For this portion of SAFE, a 1:1 compensation will be provided.
Users must provide proof, and compensation will be given after verification by the foundation and development team; no proof is required for amounts less than 1 SAFE. Specific submission and compensation timing will be notified.
A small modification, it does not need to start from May 15th, but instead from May 13th at 3 PM for the start of software download, until May 30th at 3 PM, both migration and new main nodes can be done!!!

Master Node Migration Reward Announcement
From the launch of SAFE4 on April 25, Singapore time, until the network opens on May 13, all earnings from the 12 super nodes and 6 master nodes of the development team, approximately 6000 SAFE, will be based on actual earnings.
The above earnings will be used to reward master nodes that successfully migrate or create new ones from May 15 to May 30 (the standard is: status must be normal operation, but super nodes will not be rewarded), and rewards will be based on the assessment of normal operation time.
The 6 official master nodes will not participate in the reward program.
Reward Rules:
1. Assuming that from May 15 to May 30, there are 5000 master nodes that migrate or create new nodes and operate normally;
2. The successful migration or creation time will be calculated from the day of normal operation until May 30. If more than 20% of the time is abnormal, the reward eligibility will be canceled.
4. If the master node has been operating normally from May 15, it will have 15 days by May 30.
5. If the master node has been operating normally from May 20, it will have 10 days by May 30.
6. And so on, there will be no additional rewards for nodes that operate normally from May 30 onwards; calculate the total normal operation days for all master nodes;
7. Daily reward SAFE count per master node = Total reward amount (e.g., 6000 SAFE) / Total normal operation days;
8. Calculation: The master node's reward = Daily reward SAFE count per master node * The master node's normal operation days;
9. Distribute all rewards to the earnings address of the master nodes, but it will be in a locked state, needing to push back one month according to normal operation time to unlock;

SAFE4 Network Open and Software Download Announcement
After several days of testing the super node disconnection, the SAFE4 network is functioning normally. The development team has decided to open the SAFE4 network tomorrow, May 13th, Tuesday at 3 PM Singapore Time. Open for downloading SAFE4-Desktop, SAFE4-Node, and SafeWallet that supports SAFE4.
Please note: 1. PC users can download the SAFE4-Desktop version, which can automatically download SAFE4-Node to establish super nodes or main nodes; 2. Mobile users can simply download the new version of SafeWallet, which can only manually create super nodes and main nodes, and cannot be created automatically; 3. Users who need to manually create super nodes or main nodes, or those who want to establish a Web3 interface on their own, can manually download and install SAFE4-Node;
Here's a little tip to synchronize super nodes and main nodes between the Desktop version and SafeWallet, the implementation steps are:
1. First create super nodes or main nodes on the SAFE4-Desktop version; 2. Import the mnemonic phrase into SafeWallet to generate a sub-wallet using the mnemonic import feature of SafeWallet. 3. Both SAFE4-Desktop and SafeWallet can view earnings, withdrawals, and utilization of earnings, and exercise voting rights of super nodes.
Is your coin still there? Actually, it's that the balance of imtoken version 1.5 hasn't been updated.
There was a client who, a few months ago, needed to recover over 400 ETH from their imtoken wallet through a friend's introduction. In the past few days, I prepared the contract in advance and planned to meet to sign it. The contract needed an address, so I asked the client for it. When I received the address, I noticed there used to be a lot of coins, but they were all transferred away in 2018, and the current balance is 0.
The client provided a screenshot of the wallet on their phone, and it was immediately clear that it was imtoken version 1.5. Due to the low version, it is no longer maintained, and therefore the balance will not be updated. The client should have upgraded their imtoken to version 2.0 long ago, as they transferred their ETH in 2018.
However, over time, they forgot and saw that there was still ETH in version 1.5, thinking the coins were still there, and wanted to recover the wallet. The reason I can tell just by looking at the APP interface that it's version 1.5 is that I made the same mistake before; I saw the coins in version 1.5 and only confirmed they were gone by checking the ETH explorer.
So this is why every time I receive a client's inquiry, I need to ask for the address to confirm the amount and eliminate some misunderstandings.
A friend gave you a wallet with 150 BTC? Do you really think you are destined to be the hero?
Now I always feel like I have to write something every day, otherwise I would waste the once-a-day push opportunity. Since posting (I restored a 1350 Trezor wallet) a month ago, it’s been a very busy month.
Many customers contacted me through various social channels to inquire about various asset recovery matters. At the same time, I also received many recovery orders and was busy recovering various wallets every day. Many people have asked about Bitcoin Core wallet recovery, and they all ask about public wallets. Although I wrote an article about public wallets before, I have encountered too many questions about public wallets, so this article is still about public wallets.
Configuration Requirements for SAFE4 Main Nodes and Super Nodes
Operating System Requirements: Ubuntu 14 and above Recommended Configuration for Main Node: 4 cores 8GB 3-5Mbps bandwidth Recommended Configuration for Super Node: 8 cores 16GB 10Mbps bandwidth
TCP and UDP ports 30303 need to be open on the VPS server
Below this configuration, it can run for a short time, but over time, as the number of connections increases, memory consumption will rise.
Until the operating system automatically kills the SAFE4 node program due to insufficient memory.
The connection between the super nodes and main nodes and the outside world will be cut off, thus preventing block production and affecting earnings.
If the bandwidth is too low, it will also affect communication efficiency with other nodes, impacting earnings.
SAFE4-Desktop version can automate the installation of the SAFE4 node program for super nodes and main nodes, requiring only the VPS server's IP address, account, and password.
Manual installation is also possible, configuration in SAFE4-Desktop version, and detailed tutorials can be downloaded from the official website.
A sigh - 1.3 million U lost in wrong chain transfer
1. Customers who sent to the wrong chain Today I encountered a customer who, half a year ago, wanted to transfer 1.3 million U worth of SUI coins from an exchange to his SUI address in his wallet but accidentally transferred to his wallet's APTOS chain address, asking if it could be retrieved. At first, I thought it would be easier to handle like the previous Bitcoin series and EVM series of wrong chain transfers, but after research, I found it was not that simple.
With the same private key, SUI and APTOS use different hash functions when generating addresses: the former uses Blake2b-256, and the latter uses SHA3-256. The generated address length is a 0x + 64-byte hexadecimal string.
In recent days, we have received numerous inquiries from customers regarding mobile wallets. Here are unified responses to several situations:
(1) Forgotten mnemonic phrase, lost phone, can it be recovered?
You must retrieve the phone, have a keystore backup, or have exported the private key. If you don't have any of these, you can only bid farewell to your coins, congratulations on contributing to cryptocurrency deflation.
(2) Forgotten mnemonic phrase, uninstalled wallet from the phone, can it be recovered?
If you have just uninstalled the mobile wallet, you should immediately disconnect from the internet and turn off the phone; there is still hope for recovery at this point. If it has been months or even years since uninstallation, the chances of recovery are diminishing.
(3) Forgotten mnemonic phrase, factory reset the phone, can it be recovered?
Similar to the above, although this situation is harder than (2), if you have just performed a factory reset and haven't used the phone for several days, there is still a slight chance of recovery.
In summary, you must have at least one of the following: mnemonic phrase, phone, keystore backup, or exported private key. If you have none of these, recovery is impossible. Some customers say they have an address and password; you have only the key but no lock, what wallet can you open?
In fact, the chances of recovery in the above three situations are very low, essentially hoping for a miracle.
So remember:
(1) You must record the mnemonic phrase and password in a notebook, lock it in a safe or store it in a secure location. Do not place it carelessly, as it can easily be burned, flooded, or thrown away as waste paper (there are customer cases for all three situations, with amounts starting from tens of millions, the highest being a small target);
(2) Do not easily reset your phone. When you get a new phone, copy all data to the new phone, and only consider resetting the old phone after using it for half a year or a year. Moreover, wallet files cannot be backed up to another phone.
(3) Never uninstall the mobile wallet APP; even if you can't log in or it doesn't run, do not uninstall it. At least the wallet files are still inside, and once uninstalled, all data is lost, making recovery very difficult.
The phone is lost, the mnemonic is gone, and there are no other backups of the keystore or private key. In this situation, recovery is not possible. You must have the original phone, and the original wallet must not have been uninstalled.
A焕然一新

Hello Mr. Shen! A friend downloaded the mytoken wallet on their phone, which contained Bitcoin. Later, the phone was lost, and the phone number is currently being used by someone else. They want to open the wallet but cannot remember the mnemonic phrase and password. In this situation, is it possible to recover the Bitcoin? If recovery is possible, how can they contact you to retrieve it? Thank you!
On the evening of April 30th, around 7 PM, there was an issue with the SAFE4 block production. In the past two days, technicians have been working overtime to troubleshoot the block production issue with SAFE4. It has been initially determined that there is a connectivity issue between the super nodes, leading to poor block synchronization and causing the super nodes to stop producing blocks.
The connectivity issue among the super nodes can arise from various reasons, and we are currently ruling out factors such as traffic restrictions, firewalls, consensus mechanisms, and system connection limits. Some code and parameters have already been changed, and we are observing the block production situation on the network.
Since 9 PM on April 30th until now, the aforementioned situation has not occurred, and block production has been basically normal. To prevent a recurrence of similar issues, we need to continue observing for another 3-4 days. If we assess that there are no problems or the issues are not significant at that time, we will open up the SAFE4 network.
We apologize for any inconvenience caused to the fans.
The currency of the SAFE3 mobile wallet is nothing to worry about. In the future, SAFE4 Desktop and Safewallet mobile wallet will support the import of SAFE3 mobile wallet mnemonics and asset migration, so please be patient.
