IT'S GOOD TO SEE A SCAMMER GETTING PUNISHED!
The São Paulo Court of Justice (TJ-SP) sentenced Deltan Dallagnol to pay R$ 135.4 thousand to President Luiz Inácio Lula da Silva for moral damages related to a PowerPoint presentation made in 2016 during the Lava Jato operation. In the presentation, Lula's name was associated with corruption schemes. Judge Carlo Brito Melfi made the decision on Friday, July 25, 2025. There is no further possibility of appeal, but Dallagnol can contest the judicial calculations. He has 15 days to make the payment, under penalty of a 10% fine and additional attorney's fees.
The case was initially filed by Lula's defense in 2016, arguing that Dallagnol acted abusively and illegally by presenting Lula as a central figure in a corruption scheme, constituting a premature judgment. Lula lost the case in lower courts, but the Superior Court of Justice (STJ) reversed the decision in his favor in 2022, a decision upheld by the Federal Supreme Court (STF) in June 2024, with Minister Cármen Lúcia as the rapporteur.
The amount of R$ 135,416.88 includes monetary correction, interest, and attorney's fees. The "PowerPoint case" refers to a press conference where Dallagnol presented a slide with Lula's name in the center, surrounded by terms like "petrolão" and "criminal perpetuation in power".
