Having been in the crypto space for nearly 10 years, I have both made and lost money. I have dealt with ICOs, meme coins, mining, and have experienced three cycles of bull and bear markets. After summarizing countless operations, I found that there is only one method to make steady profits. That is simple and straightforward, something everyone understands:
Buy in the bear market and sell in the bull market; it's a surefire way to profit.
Bull markets generally last 6 months to 1 year, while bear markets usually last 1 to 2 years. A complete cycle of bull and bear markets takes about 3 to 4 years. Seize the opportunity to earn at least 50%+ returns in each bull market, which is enough to outperform various financial products, stocks, and funds. This 50%+ return is guaranteed with no suspense.
1. Only position during a bear market
You must have patience and try to position yourself at the bottom of the bear market (though it is impossible to buy at the actual bottom of the bear market). The simple way to judge the bottom of the bear market is when no one is paying attention to Bitcoin, and the crypto world is lifeless. You can intermittently buy during this period, which may last for a year or even longer.
2. Only buy mainstream coins
BTC and ETH are always the kings of the crypto world; buying during a bear market is definitely not a mistake. While they may not increase dramatically, buying during a bear market and holding until selling in a bull market will assuredly yield over 50% gains. This is the first choice for large funds.
Exchange platform tokens: such as BNB
Relatively strong foundational chains: such as SOL, AVAX
Good infrastructure coins: such as MATIC
Strong consensus coins: Dogecoin, SHIB (I do not recommend strong consensus coins because their use value is low and they rely entirely on the number of buyers to create consensus)
Heavy investments should only be in mainstream coins; do not heavily invest in altcoins. The logic of altcoins is to 'cut leeks'; many altcoins are born in every bull market. Altcoins that surge in this bull market may completely fade in the next bull market, overshadowed by new, high-performing altcoins. Without internal channels and information, it is nearly impossible to correctly bet on an altcoin before it explodes. Generally, one only learns about an altcoin after seeing it surge, and by then, it is already too late to follow. Perhaps following it with good luck, the coin may continue to rise for a while, but it is more likely to fluctuate downwards. Altcoins are too volatile; the average person cannot hold on regardless of whether it rises or falls. Often they make a small profit but take a big loss. In the end, it all adds up to a loss.
3. Sell in the mid-bull market, and do not operate afterwards
In the early stages of the bull market, BTC will gradually rise, standing out on its own, driving ETH up as well. At this time, some good mainstream coins will follow suit, other coins will rise slowly, and very few altcoins will surge, while most altcoins will remain quiet.
In the mid-bull market, BTC and ETH will fluctuate upwards, mainstream coins will make significant gains, and altcoins will begin to activate.
In the later stages of the bull market, BTC may fluctuate downwards, while ETH could continue to surge. Mainstream coins will also rise one after another, and high-performing altcoins in the next bull market may skyrocket several times, even dozens or hundreds of times.
At the end of the bull market, BTC may drop several thousand points or even over ten thousand, then slightly recover. The first major drop recovers quickly, giving the illusion that it is just a correction. After two or three such drops, the bull market is declared over. If you find yourself trapped at this point, do not harbor any illusions and cut your losses in time. Otherwise, your capital will be dragged into an endless abyss.
3. Do not gamble on luck during a bull market
There are many opportunities in a bull market, especially in the later stages of the bull market where altcoins can go wild, with many altcoins skyrocketing several times, making one envious. It is tempting to follow in or impulsively choose certain promising but yet-to-explode altcoins to heavily invest in, waiting confidently for them to surge. This mindset is best avoided as it is purely gambling, entirely unrelated to investing.
Every bull market will see the birth of many altcoins that cut leeks; these altcoins often have strong hype and backgrounds that seem robust, with very aggressive upward trends. Please resist the temptation; only after the tide recedes will you know who is swimming naked. When BTC crashes and the bear market arrives, these altcoins will be halved, quartered, or even close to zero.
If you cannot resist the temptation, only use a very small amount of funds to play around. Even if you make a small profit, do not get carried away and heavily invest. Absolutely not, absolutely not, absolutely not. This is gambling, and you cannot always rely on luck. It doesn't matter if you win a hundred times; what matters is losing once and losing all your capital to start over. Do not fantasize about heavily investing in an altcoin and then getting rich; it is akin to buying a lottery ticket and hoping to win big, which is an extremely low probability event. Treating small investments as entertainment is fine, but treating them as investments is a huge mistake.
4. More patience, less impulse
After buying in the bear market, you need to patiently wait to sell during the bull market; do not operate on the ups and downs during this period, and waiting requires patience.
After selling in the bull market, patiently wait for the bull market to collapse and enter the bear market. This process may take one to two years. Do not impulsively buy at the top of the hill; patiently wait for the moment it hits rock bottom.
After making money in the bull market, do not give in to the temptation to impulsively invest in altcoins. If you really want to take a gamble, only use a maximum of 10% of your funds.
5. Capital is always the most important
If you mistakenly make a bad trade and get trapped, preserving your capital is the most important thing. In the event of a crash in the crypto market, be willing to cut losses and preserve the majority of your capital to maintain a basic foundation. There is still hope for a comeback. Be patient and wait for the crypto market to hit rock bottom, then use the remaining capital to buy in. Do not get trapped and go down with the crypto market; often, selling a trapped coin before a market crash will result in a maximum loss of 50% of your capital. If you neglect it and let it drop, holding on until the coin falls to the bottom, by then your remaining capital may have almost no chance of recovery.
