The cryptocurrency exchange Binance announced the launch of the Bitcoin Pizza Day campaign in honor of the 15th anniversary of the famous event in the crypto community. As part of the campaign, the company will raffle $5 million in bitcoin among participants of a special referral program.
On May 22, the crypto community celebrates Bitcoin Pizza Day — the anniversary of the first known purchase of a real product using bitcoin. In 2010, programmer Laszlo Hanyecz paid 10,000 BTC for two pizzas, which at that time was approximately $40.
The campaign started on May 15, 2025, and will last until May 28. Its goal is to emphasize the significance of Bitcoin Pizza Day, promote crypto culture, and attract new users to the crypto industry.
To join the campaign, you need to invite a new user. For each referral pair, participants can earn up to $40 in bitcoin — both the inviter and the user who registered via the referral link will receive $20 each. The most active users will have the chance to receive additional rewards — token vouchers worth up to $5000 in bitcoin.
The campaign also includes planned offline meetups around the world, themed online activities, and a live stream featuring industry leaders, which will take place on May 22.
Binance calls this initiative a way to thank the community that has helped develop the industry since its inception and to make cryptocurrency more accessible to millions of new users.
