'It used to be about three times more volatile than the S&P. Now it's less than double.' Melker pointed to the increased involvement of pension funds and ETF issuers as evidence of a more mature and stable market.

In his view, the shift reflects a broader trend toward institutional adoption. 'The more institutional money there is, the more money comes from Wall Street, the more long-term holders get involved, the less volatility there will be,' explains Melker.
