#MEMEAct MEMEAct
In the United States of America, there is a bill called the Modern Emoluments and Malfeasance Enforcement Act, abbreviated as MEME Act.
This bill was proposed by Democratic Representative Sam Liccardo. Its purpose is to prohibit senior officials of the United States (including the president, vice president, members of Congress, and representatives of the executive branch), as well as their spouses and minor children, from profiting from digital assets.
The name of the bill is a reference to popular "meme coins." Liccardo expressed the opinion that former president Donald Trump and his wife Melania Trump could have profited from the issuance and promotion of their own meme coins (TRUMP and MELANIA, respectively).
