Bitcoin ($BTC ) has surpassed USD $88,000 today, April 21, 2025, driven by a combination of macroeconomic factors and increasing institutional demand. Currently, $BTC is trading around USD $87,000, with a 3.3% increase in the last 24 hours.
A key factor in this surge is the purchase of 330 $BTC (approximately USD $28.2 million) by the Japanese company Metaplanet, raising its total holdings to 4,855 BTC, valued at over USD $414 million. This is Metaplanet's third acquisition in April, consolidating it as one of the leading public holders of Bitcoin.
Technical analysts suggest that, if the current momentum is maintained, Bitcoin could reach between USD $90,000 and $92,000 in the short term.
