Ethereum Layer-2 network Corn has secured $8.3M in a token funding round led by Babylon, Polychain Capital, Laser Digital (a Nomura subsidiary), Presto, Tribe Capital, Hypersphere, Amber, and Tandem by Offchain Labs.

More than 675 investors, including community members, participated in the round under equal terms for both VCs and individuals. According to Corn, the round was oversubscribed, with over 4,200 investors expressing interest.

The raised funds will be used to further integrate Bitcoin into the DeFi ecosystem, leveraging a hybrid tokenized version of BTCN as a gas token. BTCN will be backed 1:1 by native Bitcoin, ensuring decentralization by avoiding reliance on a single custodian or bridge solution.

Back in August 2024, Corn raised $6.7M in a funding round led by Polychain with participation from Binance Labs, Framework Ventures, ABCDE, Symbolic Capital, HTX Ventures, and Relayer Capital.

This investment highlights the growing interest in Ethereum Layer-2 solutions that aim to enhance scalability and bridge Bitcoin into the DeFi sector.
