The old dog brushed it off—within
$COIN 24 hours, it jumped 12.733%, and the price came to 176.36000 with a trading value of 32,313,743.27. Just looking at the gain alone is already intense; when you also factor in the 42,774.60 open interest that hasn’t been closed, this move clearly carries leverage capital—not just spot bids lifting the market.
But forcing
$COIN into the semiconductor/AI peer-sector framework, I don’t buy it. The input contains no comparable benchmark to show it’s the leading mover in this week’s sector, and it also doesn’t let us confirm the strength of its peers to validate that 12.733% as sector-wide confirmation. Its sector field is CryptoLink, and the trading logic is closer to risk appetite and on-chain US stock capital flows. With the current fundingRate at 0.00003929—positive fees—this means longs pay shorts, and longs are already somewhat crowded. Price rising, positive funding, and OI stacking up to 42,774.60 indicate that breakout-chasing longs are increasing; a continued push higher is possible, but the squeeze at the top and the risk of a long squeeze are amplified at the same time. In the previous cycle, at similar positions, the outcome is often that high volatility first flushes out leveraged longs, and only then determines whether the trend can continue. Without historical breakdown details, I won’t invent the month or the magnitude.
My plan is very specific: as long as it can hold above 176.36000 and the OI doesn’t keep spiraling out of control, I’ll only keep a light position to observe. If it breaks below 176.36000 while OI remains high, I’ll cut first—I won’t try to talk my way through crowded longs with sentiment. After it pulls back, if it falls and then reclaims 176.36000 while funding cools down, that’s when I’ll consider adding up to a half position. The market tends to interpret a single-day +12.733% surge as trend confirmation straightaway; I disagree. The reason is that positive funding has already exposed the chase-long cost, and the lack of an underlying peer benchmark doesn’t support the sector-convergence conclusion.
Last time the old dog saw a big bullish candle, it got overexcited and got stuck in that crowded position for half a day. This time, I’ll first watch the face of the leverage.
