Detectives from the Bureau of Economic Security of Ukraine shut down the activities of an organized group involved in illegal online gambling and large-scale money laundering.
🔸The group consisted of 10 individuals, including two Russians and 8 Ukrainian citizens.
🔸The volume of illegally obtained funds in cryptocurrency exceeds the equivalent of 5 billion UAH.
🔸The suspects created a network of web resources and engaged controlled IT companies to ensure their smooth operation.
How did it work?
1.Users paid to participate in games using cryptocurrency and stablecoins (USDT).
2.To mask their activities, they utilized foreign companies: initially, funds were transferred to accounts in Estonia, and then redistributed through the jurisdiction of Curacao.
3.The acquired crypto assets were converted into various currencies and integrated into legal circulation, giving them the appearance of legitimate income.
All 10 group members have been notified of suspicions for organizing illegal gambling activities and legalizing property obtained through criminal means (Part 2 of Article 203-2 and Part 3 of Article 209 of the Criminal Code of Ukraine).
