✈️ A Serious Question About Aviation Security
A disturbing report has raised major questions about how pilot background checks and aviation security systems work.
According to reports, Flydubai co-pilot Hamam Alhamami had previously been banned by Oman from flying amid concerns over alleged extremist views. Despite this, he later obtained employment with another airline and eventually served as a co-pilot on a commercial flight.
On September 30, during a Dubai–Tel Aviv flight, Alhamami allegedly attacked Indian captain Smit Machchhar, causing the aircraft to rapidly descend. Despite being seriously injured, Captain Machchhar and the crew managed to regain control and bring the aircraft to a safe emergency landing.
The biggest question now is:
If a pilot had previously been considered a security concern, how was he able to return to the cockpit of a commercial passenger aircraft?
This incident raises serious questions about pilot screening, background checks, information sharing between countries, and aviation security protocols.
The investigation must establish the facts and provide clear answers. Until then, conclusions about the circumstances should be treated cautiously.
But one thing is clear: aviation security cannot afford gaps when hundreds of lives depend on the people inside the cockpit.
Respect to Captain Smit Machchhar, the crew, and everyone who helped bring the aircraft to safety. 🇮🇳✈️
