Sony is officially opening its doors to projects today: applications for the Soneium on-chain entertainment incubation program open on October 29, targeting gaming, anime, and digital collectibles. Applications are open through December, with selection continuing until March 2027. Selected projects can receive Soneium’s technical infrastructure, opportunities to co-create with Sony, and business, marketing, and fundraising support—the first two rounds have already supported 43 projects since 2024. This isn’t just talk; it’s a concrete step by a major company to bring entertainment IP on-chain. The move to put games and anime on-chain is worth keeping an eye on long term. #Soneium #BlockchainGaming

Sony launched an on-chain entertainment incubator, and Soneium folks turned it into “the entire entertainment economy is moving on-chain” overnight. Take it easy. I went through the official details: opportunities to co-create with Sony subsidiaries, BD and marketing support, ecosystem resources, and help connecting with potential investors. Applications are open from October 29 through December. Across the first two cohorts, 43 projects have received support since 2024. Note that nowhere does it say, “Sony will directly invest money in you.” Someone reposted it as “Sony is putting real capital,” but I couldn’t find where the original says anything about this “capital.” Helping you find money and giving you money are two different things. Now look at who’s making the noise. Soneium ecosystem insiders are leading the charge, followed by a row of accounts with 💿 in their profile pictures. Several accounts copied the exact same line: “Sony is taking onchain entertainment to the next level.” One account even posted the same paragraph twice, with a few dozen views. That’s a campaign, not consensus. Out of 43 projects, how many names can you actually recall? If you can’t name any, that tells you something. For a big company, an incubator is basically a low-cost way to buy options: if a project succeeds, it becomes part of the Sony ecosystem; if it doesn’t, it’s just a few demo days. One more thing: accounts with names that look a lot like Soneium have already popped up, posting “Additional Allocation Review Opens Soon.” Looks like phishing. Don’t click links that say things like “additional allocation” or “review now open.” #Soneium #Sony

While keeping an eye on the market, I came across an announcement: Sony Group officially unveiled an incubation program today. It’s called the Sony Onchain Entertainment Incubation Program, and it’s open to creators and startup teams worldwide who want to build onchain entertainment—music, games, anime, fan economies, and more—on Soneium, Sony’s own blockchain. Applications are open from today through December, with selections expected around March next year. Those selected will get access to Soneium’s infrastructure, opportunities to co-create with Sony-affiliated companies, as well as business, marketing, and fundraising support. The company says its first two cohorts have incubated 43 projects since 2024. As a seasoned crypto investor, I’m always skeptical when a big company jumps into the space: it sounds great, but we’ll have to wait and see what actually comes of it 😂 The application link is up—I'll keep an eye on this one. #索尼 #Soneium #OnchainEntertainment

Sony-Backed Soneium Plans Native $SONEIUM Token as It Expands Onchain Entertainment.Sony-backed blockchain project Soneium is building an on-chain entertainment economy, with plans for a native ecosystem token, $SONEIUM, and the introduction of Tokenized IP. Soneium, an Ethereum Layer 2 network developed by Sony Block Solutions Labs, has announced a broader vision to connect creators, fans, intellectual property (IP) owners, developers, and investors through blockchain technology. 🎬 What Is Soneium Trying to Build? Soneium aims to bring entertainment industries—including music, anime, gaming, film, and digital collectables—onchain. According to its announcement, the ecosystem already hosts 250+ live applications, creating a foundation for entertainment-focused blockchain products and communities. The goal is to give creators and IP owners new ways to engage with fans, finance projects, and develop business models around their intellectual property. 💎 Tokenized IP: A New Way to Monetize Entertainment One of the major developments is Tokenized IP, which aims to bring intellectual property and related economic opportunities onto the blockchain. This could open new possibilities for funding, licensing, and revenue sharing involving music, characters, anime, games, and other creative assets. Soneium's initial projects include Moriusa, involving an IP Token from Super State Holdings, and K-pop-related IP Bonds through DayOneDream and WAVIST. The broader vision is to help creators and IP owners explore new funding opportunities while retaining control over their underlying intellectual property, subject to the relevant agreements and rights. 🪙 $SONEIUM: A Planned Native Ecosystem Token Soneium has also announced plans for $SONEIUM, a native token intended to connect participants across its entertainment economy. Rather than positioning it simply as another crypto asset, the project describes the token as an economic layer for its broader ecosystem. The proposed vision includes connecting creators, IP owners, developers, fans, and investors within a shared onchain environment. However, important details—including tokenomics, distribution, utility specifics, and the Token Generation Event (TGE) date—have not yet been announced. Important: $SONEIUM has not been issued yet, according to the announcement. Users should be cautious of unofficial tokens claiming to be the official asset. 📈 Why This Development Matters The entertainment industry has enormous global audiences, established intellectual property, and multiple ways to generate revenue. Blockchain technology could introduce new models for participation, financing, and digital ownership. If Soneium can attract established IP owners, creators, and active users, its entertainment-focused approach could help differentiate it from other Ethereum Layer 2 networks. However, the project's long-term success will depend on real adoption, sustainable economic incentives, the quality of its applications, and how effectively Tokenized IP works in practice. 🔍 Final Thoughts Soneium is positioning itself at the intersection of blockchain, entertainment, and tokenized intellectual property. Its planned $SONEIUM token and Tokenized IP initiative could become important parts of that strategy, but the announcement is only an early step. Tokenomics, launch timing, adoption, and actual utility will be crucial factors to watch. For now, the key development is the announcement of the planned token—not a confirmed token launch. #Soneium #Sony #crypto #Ethereum #Web3

Sony is issuing a token too: Entertainment giant enters the scene, putting IP and music royalties on-chain $BTC $ETH Sony-affiliated public blockchain Soneium has announced plans to issue its native token, this time setting its sights on the entertainment industry: character IP, music royalties, and entertainment project financing are all set to become part of the on-chain economy. This sends a powerful signal. Sony isn’t some retail project chasing the latest trend; it’s a top global entertainment group with a vast portfolio of IP and music rights. If this on-chain model succeeds, it could set an example for the entire entertainment industry: copyright revenue can be tokenized, IP value can be used to raise funds directly, and the fan economy can become an on-chain economy. Layer 2 projects have been telling this story for years, but Soneium may be the first to back the entertainment sector with resources from an industry giant. It’s a great idea, but the key question is how much real business Sony is willing to bring on-chain. Do you think IP tokenization will be the next big trend? Let’s talk in the comments. #Soneium #Layer2

Soneium and Asseto are partnering to bring approximately $549 million in intellectual property royalty funds managed by Partners Group onchain and make them available through IP Vault. ipUSD and IP Vault are scheduled to launch on Soneium Portal on the morning of 2026-10-28 UTC. Users can exchange USDSC or USDC.e for ipUSD at a 1:1 rate and deposit it. Shares’ NAV will be updated monthly, with a minimum deposit of 100 ipUSD; the first settlement is scheduled for 11-02. According to company figures, Partners Group manages approximately $186 billion in assets. Soneium’s IP Vault opened its doors today. I scrolled through X, and the noisiest accounts weren’t the project team—they were a bunch of accounts with 💿 after their names. Same opening line: “BIG UPDATE / BIG NEWS.” Same “What is ipUSD? What is IP Vault?” explainer template. Views ranged from a few dozen to just over a thousand. Sota Watanabe himself got only around 4,500 views. The marketing showed up before the product—that tells you all you need to know. Now, the product itself. Swap USDC.e or USDSC for ipUSD, deposit it into the IP Vault, and you get exposure to a $549 million copyright royalty fund from Partners Group. It includes The Weeknd’s music catalog, TV libraries, and over 100,000 royalty income streams. Minimum investment is 100 ipUSD, shares are valued monthly at NAV, and it’s only available to eligible users. A few things I’m not buying: The marketing says “+7.1% annualized since June 2025.” They’re touting just over a year of performance, while the long-term target of 8–10% is a target, not a promise. The underlying assets have monthly NAVs, but the promo accounts are shouting “flexible redemptions, transferable shares.” Being transferable on-chain doesn’t mean the underlying assets can be liquidated anytime. If there’s a run, what you get is a discount on the secondary market. They can’t even agree on the number of investments: some say 54, others say 53. They can’t even copy the promo text consistently. Putting copyright royalties on-chain isn’t a bad idea—it’s much better than shitcoins. But a private fund yielding seven percent a year, hyped by a swarm of 💿 accounts shouting “opportunity,” probably means people are really chasing expectations of a SONEIUM token, not that 7%. Putting in $100 for points is fine; don’t go all-in thinking it’s a high-yield investment. #Soneium #RWA

Don’t mistake it for something you can claim: $SONEIUM is only “planned”The Sony-backed Ethereum L2 has announced an “on-chain entertainment economy,” but don’t rush off looking for a token-claim page—$SONEIUM is still just a plan, not a live token. On October 26, Soneium’s official blog made it clear: it plans to launch the ecosystem token $SONEIUM to connect creators, IP holders, developers, fans, and capital on one layer. Specific TGE details will be “announced later.” For now, on-chain gas is still paid in $ETH. Soneium also mentioned adjusting the base gas fee, but didn’t say whether the token might be used for gas in the future. More concrete is the Tokenized IP setup: IP can be turned into collectibles or fungible tokens, discovered and engaged with through Soneium Portal. The first IP Token is named Moriusa (a character IP from Tokyo-based Super State Holdings). Soneium has also partnered with DayOneDream to turn revenue shares from its existing K-pop artist concert business into a Tokenized IP Bond. Other components include IP Vault, IP Bond, and a three-part stack for IP registration, relationship graphs, and execution, with plans to support the ERC-8432 licensing standard.

Sony is getting into token issuance too—but don’t rush in just yet: Soneium announced today that it plans to launch its native ecosystem token, SONEIUM, positioning it as part of an “on-chain entertainment economy.” The focus isn’t on speculation; it’s on bringing IP on-chain. The network already has more than 250 apps and about $9.38 million in locked assets. Its mainnet launched on January 14, 2025, runs on the OP Stack, and has always used ETH for gas. The first use cases are quite specific: Super State Holdings’ character Moriusa will be the first IP token, while DayOneDream’s WAVIST platform will turn royalties from K-pop concerts by BTOB, Lee Chae-yeon, and others into assets that can be shared. IP Vault and IP Bond will also be part of the package. But here’s the key point: the token hasn’t been issued yet. Its supply and tokenomics haven’t been announced, and the launch date has only been described as “later.” This is an announcement, not a launch. Treat any coins with the same name already appearing on the market as fake. #Soneium #IP Tokens

Just 5 days ago, I was adamant that @soneium wouldn’t launch a token anytime soon. Today, I’ve been proven spectacularly wrong.

Sony-backed L2 chain Soneium just announced that it’s positioning itself as the infrastructure for an onchain entertainment economy, and plans to issue its native token, $SONEIUM, as the core asset of its economic layer.

Earlier, Soneium announced that it would use @Optimism’s enterprise-grade, fully managed services, outsourcing all underlying chain operations to OP. I’d imagined every possibility—except that this was very likely preparation for a token launch.

Leave professional chain operations to the pros, so you can focus on the big things: launching a token.

【🎭 Entertainment IP is going on-chain too? Soneium plans to launch an ecosystem token】 [🌟 加入X先生的粉丝群聊跟进热点](https://app.binance.com/uni-qr/MwYFhLo4) Sony-backed Ethereum Layer 2 network Soneium is connecting the entertainment industry with blockchain. 📢 Soneium plans to launch an ecosystem token, SONEIUM, aiming to connect creators, IP holders, developers, fans, and investors. However, the token has not yet been issued, and details about its use cases and launch date have yet to be announced. This is about more than just issuing a token. Soneium is also preparing to build an on-chain entertainment economy: 🎮 Its first IP token project will center on the Japanese character Moriusa. Future plans include a royalty asset vault related to the entertainment business, tokenized IP bonds, and a partnership with DayOneDream to bring royalties from South Korean pop music concert businesses on-chain. 💡 What does this mean? Until now, revenue from entertainment IP has mainly been controlled by rights holders, platforms, and related businesses. Tokenization aims to turn some copyright revenue or related assets into on-chain rights, giving more participants the opportunity to access these assets. But keep in mind: an on-chain token does not mean you own the IP rights, nor does it guarantee dividends or appreciation. Ultimately, it depends on the legal structure, source of revenue, and specific rules. 📌 What’s really worth watching is that blockchain applications are expanding beyond trading and financial products into music, character IP, and the entertainment industry. Whether real-world revenue can be clearly linked to token rights will be key to these projects’ long-term success. #SonySoneium #Soneium

I just noticed that the banner on Optimism’s official X account has been changed to @soneium.

Even @base, which was once a walking advertisement, never got this kind of treatment. What has Soneium, incubated by Sony, done to deserve it?

Turns out Soneium uses OP’s enterprise-grade, fully managed services, outsourcing all the chain’s underlying operations and maintenance to OP—and has now become OP’s biggest client.

That said, Soneium’s on-chain data is really hard to look at. DeFi TVL across the entire chain is down to just over $5M, a 98% drop from its peak.

OP has undoubtedly set its sights on the prestige of a major corporation like Sony. It’s unlikely that Soneium will issue a token anytime soon.

【Market Update】Sony-backed Soneium is launching its native token, SONEIUM, with 250+ apps as its foundation and a pivot toward IP. Its next phase will focus on tokenized IP, with IP Vault and IP Bond both in the works. The first project is Moriusa, and DayOneDream also plans to tokenize concert royalties. But the launch date and token model have yet to be announced. Sony’s Soneium has finally said it’s launching a token. My first reaction wasn’t to ape in—it was to dig up the old receipts. People in the community used to point to the official FAQ, which said there were no plans to launch a native token and that gas would be paid in ETH. Now, on October 26, they’ve rolled out the SONEIUM token, Tokenized IP, an IP treasury, and IP bonds all at once. Plans can change, sure—but changing them just after months of points farming and days of countdown hype feels all too familiar. Then there’s the pre-launch chatter on X: “October 26 is almost here… Token? Snapshot? Airdrop?” A dozen accounts copied the exact same template, word for word, and most of the posts got only a few dozen views. That’s not community excitement—it’s airdrop farmers trying to pump the value of their points. So far, there’s no genuinely useful information: total supply, allocation, airdrop share, TGE date—none of it has been announced. Crypto Banter’s “SONY-BACKED” breaking-news post got over ten thousand views, but the most valuable words in the headline were “Sony,” not anything about tokenomics. My view is simple: backing from a major company doesn’t mean a token has value. Sony owns its IP. How much of the copyright revenue the token can capture on-chain depends on how the contracts are written, not on the logo. There’s another issue nobody is talking about: some ASTR holders have publicly asked for the tokenomics of ASTR to be clearly distinguished from announcements about Startale and Soneium. Now that a new token is on the way, it’s even less clear how value will accrue to the old one. Until the details are out, don’t price it based on the “Sony coin” narrative, and don’t go farm another round of interactions for an airdrop like a volunteer. #Soneium

O token $ASTR não tem só a Soneium não, tem o Astar Stack com muitos outros produtos e serviços, fora que tem tudo pra crescer ainda mais por ter uma comunidade muito ativa envolvida nela no Japão que foi onde esse projeto nasceu...
The public-chain narrative has moved one step closer to “bringing IP on-chain.” According to reports from PANews and others, Soneium plans to issue its ecosystem-native token, SONEIUM, to connect creators, IP holders, and developers. The first IP-token-related project involves the Japanese character Moriusa, with future plans also mentioning IP Vaults and tokenized IP bonds. These are still plans that have been disclosed; the rollout timeline and token details are pending official specifications. How to read this: Entertainment IP combined with on-chain finance is a high-narrative-density sector. Valuations often hinge first on the authenticity of licensing and revenue-sharing mechanisms, and then on secondary-market liquidity. The key questions are whether the token has a clear use case, whether IP rights can be verified, and whether bond- or vault-style products have genuine cash flows—not whether the name is generating buzz. #Soneium #SONEIUM #IP #Tokenization

I think I’ve finally figured out Soneium’s latest puzzle marketing campaign: what’s really being pieced together isn’t some grand Sony promise—it’s your points anxiety. Since October 23, the official account, Yuji Kumagai, and Sota Watanabe have been taking turns dropping clues: a controller, film, a CD, a microphone, each paired with “Every piece plays a part.” The numbers 10 and 26 keep showing up, too. And then the timeline got lively: some people immediately guessed there’d be a snapshot on October 26, posting two question marks and a moon; one post saying “Something big seems to be coming” got 39 replies, and a few I clicked were all just echoes of “october 26 could be interesting,” with a dozen or twenty views each; someone even posted the same bit of copy twice within four minutes. That’s not the community solving a puzzle. That’s airdrop-farming studios handing in their homework. Now look at what everyone’s clutching. STAR Points in the Startale App: the September tasks gave you 90 points for depositing $30 in USDC, and 50 points for referring someone. You score points based on deposits and referrals, and you call that on-chain activity? I call it rented TVL. I’m not saying there definitely won’t be anything on the 26th. Sony’s name carries weight, and a game or partnership announcement would be perfectly normal. But “snapshot” is a word retail users are saying to each other—there hasn’t been a single mention of it from the official account. If you shove more U into a bridge or recruit more referrals over a snapshot you imagined, and it turns out to be a brand partnership PPT, don’t blame the project. From start to finish, all they said was “every piece plays a part.” You’re that piece. #Soneium
