Miner Sell Pressure Is the Most Underestimated Cycle Force
Most halving analysis focuses on the supply cut itself. The more interesting signal is what happens to miner economics afterward and how it reshapes sell pressure over a full cycle.
Pre-halving: miners liquidate aggressively. Block rewards are at peak, production costs are fixed, treasuries are flush. Mined coins flow to exchanges at a steady clip. This is structural overhead on price.
Post-halving: the dynamic flips. Revenue halves overnight. Miners with high marginal cost either capitulate or adapt by holding, hedging via OTC, seeking cheaper energy. The least efficient operators exit. Hash rate briefly drops, then recovers with a leaner, more financially sophisticated cohort.
What this means for price structure:
- Miner-driven sell pressure drops by roughly half in BTC terms
- Hash rate recovery signals organic demand for block rewards at new prices
- Miner capitulation events historically precede cycle bottoms
- Surviving miners become structural HODLers, not sellers
The halving is not magic. It works because it forces the most aggressive sellers out while simultaneously cutting the daily supply entering exchanges.
Track miner outflows to exchanges, not just block rewards. That is where the real signal lives.
