点击进入玖玖的粉丝群🇪🇺 The EU has tightened crypto regulation again.
The EU has now announced it will further expand restrictions on crypto-related businesses connected to Belarus, and formally extend its regulatory scope to the entire MiCA (Markets in Crypto-Assets Regulation) framework.
The new rules will take effect on August 25.
So what’s the biggest change this time?
Previously, restrictions mainly focused on:
🔹 Wallet services
🔹 Custody services
🔹 Part of account management
But the latest provisions will cover nearly all crypto activities regulated under MiCA, including:
📈 Crypto trading platforms
💱 Digital asset exchanges
💼 Asset management
📊 Investment advisory
🔄 Token transfers
🪙 Services related to crypto-assets
More importantly, the监管 focus is no longer limited to the business itself, but also to a company’s actual control.
The EU requires:
🚫 Belarus citizens may not own or control relevant crypto enterprises
🚫 They may not serve as directors or management of related companies
🚫 Companies must strengthen background checks on shareholders and management
For platforms that have already obtained MiCA licenses, or are preparing to apply for MiCA authorization, this means future compliance requirements will be further tightened.
Why is the market paying attention?
MiCA is already Europe’s most important crypto regulatory framework. Now, combined with sanctions policy, it means that in the future, European platforms will need to meet not only financial regulatory requirements, but also international sanctions requirements at the same time.
For trading platforms:
✅ KYC checks
✅ Ownership structure
✅ Corporate governance
✅ Compliance operations
will all become key regulatory focus areas.
It’s worth noting that this new regulation does not ban ordinary users from holding crypto-assets; it mainly targets platforms and operating companies. As global regulation continues to strengthen, the crypto industry is gradually moving toward a more standardized and regulated development stage.
