#LE BITCOIN BELOW $80,000 $ : WHAT HAPPENED THIS WEEKEND.

On Saturday, October 24, the crypto market had a turbulent session. Bitcoin briefly fell to around $79,300 $ before rebounding to around $80,000.
1. A liquidation of leveraged positions
Over 24 hours, around $841 million worth of positions were liquidated, mostly bets on prices going up. Low weekend liquidity amplified the move.
On Sunday, BTC appears to have stabilized around $80,500 $ , according to prediction markets, but this figure is only indicative.

#LE BITCOIN HOLDS FIRM, ALTCOINS UNDER PRESSURE.

Total market capitalization fell by around 2.8% during the week of October 5–12, while Bitcoin dropped by around 2.2% and Ethereum by 5.5%. Altcoins suffered more: Solana lost around 12.5% and Dogecoin nearly 13.9% over the same period.
Bitcoin is holding up better than the rest of the market.
The rise in its dominance does not necessarily mean that investors are buying BTC in large numbers. It may simply reflect the fact that Bitcoin is falling less than altcoins.
The market is therefore in more of a “relatively defensive Bitcoin” regime than a genuine altcoin season.

IN SUMMARY:
the market is currently experiencing a fragile rebound within a still-defensive structure. Bitcoin is dominant, Ethereum and altcoins remain weaker, and institutional flows and macroeconomic conditions have yet to provide a sufficiently convincing bullish signal.
