CRO’s first monthly buyback and burn is done: 1.79 million tokens. The community is flooding the timeline like it’s a halving.
That’s about $92,000. Yes, ninety-two thousand.
I’m not saying the burn is a bad thing. Using real fees to buy and burn tokens, with the hash verifiable on-chain, is a much stronger case than just talking about deflation. ubikcapital made a good point: how much gets burned = how much Ult and Cronos Launch are actually being used. It’s a metric, not the good news itself.
The problem is that this metric is still tiny. The two products only launched in September, and after running for just over a month, this is all they’ve generated. A $90,000 buy order barely makes a dent in CRO’s market, and might not even be enough to keep a small green candle going.
A bunch of GM crofam template accounts are turning “1,791,534 CRO burned” into a huge rocket story, just like all the “deflation narrative” hype before: make the number sound big first, and nobody bothers converting it to dollars.
If you really want to track this, watch whether the burn amount rises or falls over the next few months. If it rises, that means people are using the products. If it falls, then this was just a one-off PR stunt. The amount burned in the first month doesn’t matter; the trend does.
