Heatbit's new Bitwater is an $899 heating element that mines $BTC while it heats your water tank. Out of the box it mines solo, and at today's difficulty a 34 TH/s machine finds a block about once every 560 years on average. It swaps into the 1-inch element port on standard 30 to 80 gallon tanks in the US and Canada. Heatbit lists up to 34 TH/s at up to 600 W, 20 BM1370 chips, and shipping in Q1 2027. The $899 price is for the first Genesis batch; later batches go up to $1,299. Solo on the Heatbit pool is the default setting. If a block hits, the whole reward is yours, but the odds at 34 TH/s are roughly 1 in 560 for any given year. Pointed at a pool like Luxor instead, the same hashrate earns about $1.25 a day at today's numbers, around $455 a year. By our math that's roughly 2 years to earn back $899 running flat out, or about 2.5 years at 80% runtime. Price, difficulty and pool fees will all move that, and the next difficulty adjustment is currently tracking about +5%. The heat isn't wasted, which is the whole pitch. Just know which mode it's in before you count on the income. #Bitcoin #BitcoinMining NFA. DYOR.

Five listed bitcoin miners moved power to AI and mined 6,188 fewer BTC between Jan 1 and Oct 19 than over the same stretch of 2025. Mining still got harder. CryptoQuant's numbers: IREN, Bitfarms, Cipher, Core Scientific and TeraWulf went from 13,263 BTC to 7,075, down 47%, as they signed big AI and HPC leases. Five miners that stayed with bitcoin (MARA, CleanSpark, Riot, HIVE and American Bitcoin) went from 20,085 to 23,306. That is 3,221 more, about half of what the AI group gave up. The network didn't slow down. Difficulty rose 5.92% on Oct 16 to 140.58T, the biggest jump since late June and the highest level since early March, per mempool.space. Its current estimate for the next adjustment around Oct 30 is roughly +3.6%. CryptoQuant has 30-day average hashrate about 8.8% below its all-time high, after sitting 18.3% under it in August. So the hashpower the AI movers switched off has been replaced, and then some, by machines outside that group. For $BTC holders, a harder network is good news. For miners still running, every coin just got more expensive to produce. #Bitcoin #BitcoinMining NFA. DYOR.

Bitcoin Hash Rate Reaches New High as Miners Hold More BTCNetwork Strength Is Rising, but Miner Economics Tell a Different Story One Bitcoin metric I’m watching closely right now is the network’s hash rate. The seven-day average reached 1,031.61 EH/s on October 17, its highest level since May 29. At first glance, that looks like a straightforward sign of growing network strength. More computing power is being committed to securing Bitcoin, and miners continue to operate at scale. But the more interesting part is what happened alongside that increase. Bitcoin miners collectively added 379 BTC to their holdings over the past week, bringing their combined balance to approximately 1.19 million BTC. That suggests miners, as a group, have not been rushing to reduce their Bitcoin exposure despite the wider market pressure. Higher Hash Rate Does Not Automatically Mean Higher Profits This is where I think the data needs a little more context. The network is using more computational power, but the Puell Multiple has fallen to 0.99. The indicator compares the daily dollar value of newly issued Bitcoin with its one-year average. A reading around 1 means current issuance value is close to that historical baseline, while a reading below 1 indicates it is slightly weaker. So I would not interpret the rising hash rate as proof that mining profitability has suddenly improved. In fact, the combination is more nuanced: network competition is increasing while the dollar value of newly issued BTC remains relatively ordinary. That can put pressure on less efficient miners, particularly when operating costs, hardware expenses and electricity prices remain elevated. Miner Holdings Are the More Interesting Signal The increase in miner-held BTC catches my attention because miners are one of the market's natural sources of Bitcoin supply. Their combined holdings rising to 1,192,622 BTC means the latest weekly data does not show broad miner capitulation. That does not necessarily mean miners are bullish on price. There are many reasons a mining company might retain BTC rather than sell it, including treasury management, expectations around future prices or simply timing around operating expenses. Still, it is useful market context. When I compare the two signals, I see a network becoming increasingly computationally competitive while miners are maintaining a substantial Bitcoin inventory. That is more informative than looking at hash rate alone. What the Hash Rate Says About Bitcoin Hash rate is not a direct price indicator, and I would be careful about treating a new high as a trading signal. What it does show is that miners continue to deploy significant computing resources toward the Bitcoin network. From a network-security perspective, that is an important structural metric. The bigger question is whether this level of mining activity can remain economically sustainable. If BTC prices remain under pressure while mining difficulty and competition continue rising, the industry could face another period of margin compression. The stronger operators may continue expanding, while less efficient participants could be forced to shut down machines or sell more of their reserves. My Take The latest numbers give me a mixed but interesting picture. Hash rate: 1,031.61 EH/s Miner holdings: 1,192,622 BTC Weekly miner accumulation: +379 BTC Puell Multiple: 0.99 For me, the main takeaway is not simply that Bitcoin's hash rate has reached a new high. It is that network participation is strengthening even though miner economics have not improved at the same pace. That distinction matters. A stronger hash rate supports the underlying network, but it does not guarantee stronger BTC prices. I would therefore watch three things together from here: miner balances, the Puell Multiple and Bitcoin's market price. When those signals start moving in the same direction, the picture becomes considerably clearer. #BitcoinSurpasses$82K #BitcoinMining #CryptoMarket #StrategySharesFall9%OnFriday $BTC $ZEC {future}(ZECUSDT) $ETH {future}(ETHUSDT)

Bitcoin Hash Rate Reaches New High as Miners Hold More BTC

Network Strength Is Rising, but Miner Economics Tell a Different Story
One Bitcoin metric I’m watching closely right now is the network’s hash rate.
Higher Hash Rate Does Not Automatically Mean Higher Profits
This is where I think the data needs a little more context.
Miner Holdings Are the More Interesting Signal
The increase in miner-held BTC catches my attention because miners are one of the market's natural sources of Bitcoin supply.
What the Hash Rate Says About Bitcoin
Hash rate is not a direct price indicator, and I would be careful about treating a new high as a trading signal.
My Take
The latest numbers give me a mixed but interesting picture.
Hash rate: 1,031.61 EH/s
Miner holdings: 1,192,622 BTC
Weekly miner accumulation: +379 BTC
Puell Multiple: 0.99
For me, the main takeaway is not simply that Bitcoin's hash rate has reached a new high.

Vitalik Buterin posted a cost breakdown on Oct 17 that puts the all-in cost of mining one bitcoin at about $93,700. Bitcoin trades near $81,400 tonight. His table splits that per coin: hardware about $37,600 including financing, electricity into the machines $40,600, other power $2,400, labor $3,200, facility rent about $2,500, and about $7,400 for maintenance, insurance, tax and bandwidth. He posted it to compare with AI inference, where hardware is about 76% of the cost and power only 4%. We ran his numbers against the price. Everything except the machines and the building comes to $53,600 per coin, so today's price still covers the running bill with about $27,800 left over. Hardware and rent need $40,100. That leaves each new coin about $12,300 short of full cost, roughly 13%. These are his estimates, and every miner pays a different power price. By his table, mining at $81,400 pays the bills but doesn't pay back the rigs. $BTC #Bitcoin #BitcoinMining NFA. DYOR.

When will Bitcoin mining endWhen will Bitcoin mining end, and what will happen to the price afterward? The question of when Bitcoin mining will end is one of the most frequently asked in the cryptocurrency market, and the answer lies at the heart of Bitcoin’s own programming. The Bitcoin protocol was designed to have a limited supply of no more than 21 million coins. This supply is not issued all at once, but according to a fixed schedule known as the halving mechanism. Every 210,000 blocks, or approximately every four years, the mining reward received by miners is cut in half.

Bitcoin miners are squeezed: hashprice ~$40/PH/day as the industry pivots to AI$BTC is down ~4% today near $83K. But there's a group feeling this drop more than most traders: Bitcoin miners. Their revenue per machine is near multi-year lows, and many are quietly becoming AI data-center landlords. 1) Hashprice is squeezed • Hashprice (expected daily revenue for 1 PH/s of hashpower) sits around $40-41 per PH/day (Hashrate Index ~$40.08, Firsthand Bitcoin ~$41), down about 21% vs a year ago. • In sats it's ~47.6 sats per TH/day: miners earn slightly more BTC per machine than a year ago, but each BTC is worth less in dollars. • Fees are almost nothing: ~0.5% of total block rewards. Miners live almost entirely on the 3.125 BTC subsidy. 2) Competition keeps rising • Difficulty: 132.72T. Hashrate estimates range from ~950 to ~1,040 EH/s depending on the method (some 24h estimates are even higher). • Next difficulty adjustment expected around Oct 16, estimated +2.8% to +5.9% (Newhedge estimator). If BTC doesn't bounce, hashprice falls again. • Firsthand Bitcoin puts break-even electricity around 12.5¢/kWh for an efficient ~9.4 J/TH fleet. Older machines are much closer to the edge. 3) The real story: miners are becoming AI landlords • One of the largest US miners signed a 20-year lease for 191 MW at Rockdale, Texas with a frontier AI lab (~$9.1B base contract), plus a 50 MW deal with AMD. • CleanSpark signed a $6.6B, 20-year lease for a 250 MW site in Sandersville, Georgia; first data hall targeted for December 2027. It still mined 593 BTC in August. • MARA expects two AI/HPC leases by year-end. • CoinShares: more than $100B of AI contracts and 4+ GW contracted, but only ~550 MW currently billing (~$1.1B annualized revenue). The backlog is real, the cash mostly isn't yet. Why it matters for BTC holders • Squeezed miners tend to sell more of their production, which can add supply pressure on red days. • As more power moves to AI, hashrate growth could slow over time, which would ease difficulty for the miners who stay. • Watch: the Oct 16 difficulty adjustment, miner outflows to exchanges, and whether BTC can get back above ~$87K. My take: mining is turning into an energy business with a Bitcoin option attached. The miners with cheap power and AI contracts survive the squeeze; the rest become sellers. Would you rather own a pure-play miner or one pivoting to AI? 👇 Sources: Hashrate Index, Firsthand Bitcoin, Newhedge (mining data Oct 7); CleanSpark August update; H.C.
