【I lost six figures at the end of 2018, but I learned the most important lesson】
That day I watched ETH drop from 14,000 to 3,000, thinking to myself, "This is it, it's going to keep crashing," but half a year later, it bounced back to 6,000. Looking back now, that 3,000 level was basically a free money opportunity.
To put it bluntly, every time the market squeezes out human fear, it often marks the starting point for a trend reversal.
Let’s take a look at ETH's current status. The price is stuck at 1,788, up 1% over the last 24 hours, and 9.2% over the past week. It seems okay, right? But to be honest, this kind of increase feels a bit slow, like it’s waiting for something to confirm a direction.
I’ve been keeping an eye on a few key metrics, let me share my observations:
First is the movement of the on-chain whales. Recently, these addresses haven’t been very active, but the net inflow to exchanges has clearly slowed down. What does this mean? It means that the frantic transfers to exchanges, as if preparing to dump, have disappeared, and instead, people are quietly withdrawing coins. Think about that.
Next is the trading volume. A couple of days ago, it suddenly spiked, nearly 40% higher than usual. This signal is intriguing—low volume stagnation can’t push down, but a spike in volume often precedes a big move.
Also, the fear index is currently at 15, and everyone on social media is calling for zero. But I checked the history, and every time this thing drops to such levels, there tends to be a decent rebound in the following months. I'm not saying it will pump immediately, but this extreme pessimism often characterizes a bottom region.
Of course, I’m not blindly optimistic. ETH is still down nearly 64% from its peak, which is a significant drop. The key question is: Has the fundamental situation of ETH changed? It switched to POS, the ecosystem is still developing, TVL ranks are still high... If none of that has changed, then the current price is basically on sale.
Now we just need to see if we can break through the resistance at 1,869 with volume. If we get past that hurdle, I tend to think that the mid-term bottom is basically established. Until then, it’s best to watch with a light position, don’t act impulsively.
On-chain data doesn’t lie, but people can deceive themselves. What do you think about this ETH wave? Are we still bottoming out, or is a rebound really on the way?
A. About time, ready to dollar-cost average in
B. Let’s wait, see if we can break 1,869
C. Feels like it’s going to drop more, no rush
