Chamath Palihapitiya accuses Nvidia (NVDA) of benefiting China with strategic AI chips
Chamath Palihapitiya, known as the "King of SPACs," has expressed his concern about Nvidia Corporation (NASDAQ:NVDA) and has accused the company of not acting in the best interest of the United States.
What happened
In an episode of the All-In podcast released over the weekend, Palihapitiya criticized Nvidia for its alleged efforts to circumvent U.S. export controls designed to limit China's access to cutting-edge AI chips.
"How is it possible that Alibaba presents something amazing and DeepSeek something even better?" Palihapitiya questioned, suggesting that Nvidia's chips could be ending up in Chinese hands.
He pointed out that, after the U.S. ban on selling high-end GPUs like the A100 and H100 to China, Nvidia quickly released slightly modified versions — the A800 and H800 — that minimally reduced data transfer speed to comply with export rules, without losing much of the performance
