Blobs are cheap because the data is kept for only about 18 days, doesn't need to be stored permanently, and isn't processed by the EVM, which means a much lighter load on nodes.
When Layer 2 networks write blob data to the mainnet, the blob fee is also paid in $ETH . The current price is 2364.21.
