🤔 The DOGE of Trump silently dissolves after Musk's departure: Report

The Government Efficiency Department (DOGE) of the Trump administration, previously led by Elon Musk, is no longer active despite being authorized to operate until mid-2026, according to Reuters.

Scott Kupor, Director of the Office of Personnel Management (OPM), which manages the federal workforce and its benefits, confirmed that the DOGE has been dissolved and other agencies have absorbed its functions.

The DOGE made efforts that drew attention early in Trump's second term as a centerpiece of the president's promise to reduce the size of the federal bureaucracy.

By the end of May, Musk left his position as head of the DOGE following the end of his status as a special government employee and a "bromance collapse" with President Trump.

The DOGE website remains active, with data updated as of October 4 and claims of approximately $214 billion in estimated government savings.

The administration has not formally declared that the group has been closed. However, Trump now refers to the agency in the past tense, indicating that it is effectively inactive.
