The International North-South Transport Corridor (INSTC) is set to increase its capacity to 15 million tons of cargo upon the completion of its final segment, creating competition for the Suez Canal, according to Russian Deputy Prime Minister Vitaly Saveliev in an interview with Russia 24. Established through a 2000 agreement between Russia, India, and Iran, the corridor is designed to streamline transit from India, Iran, and Gulf nations to Europe via Russia.
