The U.S. Securities and Exchange Commission (SEC) has postponed decisions on several high-profile crypto ETFs, including Truth Social’s Bitcoin-Ethereum fund, Solana products from 21Shares and Bitwise, and 21Shares’ Core XRP Trust.
In filings on Aug. 18, the SEC extended the review deadlines to Oct. 8 for the Truth Social ETF, Oct. 16 for the Solana ETFs, and Oct. 19 for the XRP Trust.
The Truth Social ETF — branded under former President Donald Trump’s platform — is structured as a spot product directly holding BTC and ETH, similar to existing spot ETFs.
Meanwhile, Cboe BZX is seeking approval for the first U.S. spot Solana ETFs, while 21Shares’ XRP Trust would track XRP’s market value through direct token holdings.
Analysts note that October is shaping up as a pivotal month for crypto ETFs, with many final review deadlines clustered around that period. Bloomberg ETF analyst James Seyffart said the SEC “typically uses the full review period” and early approvals would be unusual.
The U.S. market already hosts 12 spot Bitcoin ETFs and multiple Ether products. BlackRock’s iShares Bitcoin Trust leads the sector with more than $87 billion in AUM, far ahead of its competitors.

미국 증권거래위원회(SEC)가 트루스소셜 비트코인·이더리움 ETF와 21Shares 및 비트와이즈의 솔라나 ETF, 그리고 21Shares의 XRP 트러스트 승인 결정을 10월로 연기했다.
18일(현지시간) SEC는 새로운 심사 기한을 각각 10월 8일(트루스소셜 BTC·ETH ETF), 10월 16일(솔라나 ETF), 10월 19일(XRP 트러스트)으로 설정했다고 공시했다.
트루스소셜 ETF는 트럼프 전 대통령의 소셜 플랫폼 브랜드로 제출됐으나 구조상 현물 BTC와 ETH를 직접 보유하는 상품으로, 기존 현물 ETF들과 유사한 형태다.
한편 Cboe BZX는 21Shares와 비트와이즈를 통해 미국 최초의 현물 솔라나 ETF 승인을 추진 중이며, XRP 트러스트 역시 직접 토큰을 보유해 가치를 추종하는 상품으로 2월 처음 제출됐다.
SEC는 올해 여름 내내 다수의 알트코인 ETF 심사를 연기해왔으며, 10월을 기점으로 주요 결정을 내릴 가능성이 크다. 블룸버그 애널리스트 제임스 세이퍼트는 “SEC는 일반적으로 전체 심사 기간을 활용한다”며 “대부분의 최종 마감일이 10월에 몰려 있다”고 지적했다.
현재 미국 시장에는 이미 12개의 현물 비트코인 ETF와 다수의 이더리움 ETF가 상장돼 있으며, 블랙록의 iShares Bitcoin Trust가 약 880억 달러 규모의 운용자산(AUM)으로 압도적인 점유율을 보이고 있다.
